Hillary Clinton – Blood clot drama predicted by November’s Solar Eclipse

Hillary Clinton, the current secretary of state has been struck down with a blood clot on her brain and is being monitored in hospital. As I understand it, early in December Hillary fell ill with a stomach bug in Europe on a trip to meet European Union leaders, after which a few days later she collapsed from exhaustion hitting her head later causing a concussion. Now a blood clot has formed and affected her a couple of weeks later. Looking at the astrology, there is a definite link between her natal chart, this incident and the recent Solar Eclipse in Scorpio.

 

Hillary was born on 26th October 1947 in Chicago at 8:02hrs. This time according to Astro Databank is unverified but I think the veracity of it is very much confirmed by this particular incident in her life. She is a Sun and Ascendant Scorpio with a sensitive Pisces Moon. This very watery combination is hugely intuitive and powerful. With her Sun in the 12th house, Hillary wields her Scorpionic power and control behind the scenes. With no planets in earth signs, she is someone who uses her emotions, intuition and enthusiasm to drive her on. In this she is hugely determined shown by 6 planets in fixed signs. There is enough flexibility here with 3 planets in mutable signs to negate the Scorpio stubbornness which could hamper her, however she is not someone who initiates new ideas; she will be reactive rather than pro-active.

Hillary’s Sun sits hidden away in the 12th house, a position which tradition dictates that the individual works behind the scenes and to an extent this is true. You do find a lot of very public people with this position especially leaders of companies and countries, and I put this down to the fact that when it comes to dealings and politics behind the scenes, in the board room or cabinet office away from prying eyes, these people come to the fore and rise to the top. This Sun is trine to Uranus, so Hillary is very much her own woman, hugely independent and not willing to bow down to anyone, let alone her own husband.

Hillary’s Moon in Pisces is extremely compassionate and kind and sitting in her 4th house, making her very tied to her mother and her family. This position suggests suffering and when Bill was in the middle of the Lewinsky scandal, despite all the pressure and suffering that she would have had to endure, to her credit she stuck by him. Taurus on the cusp of her 7th house of married partners is very loyal and unchanging and she would not have deserted a partner unless there was a complete and utter breakdown in their relationship. Her Moon trine to Mercury is excellent for counselling, is articulate and great for dealing one on one with people and for teaching, and the trine to Venus is thoughtful and caring. The Moon makes a square to Uranus which highlights freedom within her relationship and with her and Bill globetrotting around the world, this is something she gets plenty of and it has probably helped to keep their relationship fresh.

We have 2 huge stelliums on this chart. One clumped around her Scorpio Ascendant with Mercury , Venus, South Node and Jupiter all sitting here and this is square to a formidable Mars Saturn Pluto conjunction in her 9th house of knowledge, law and foreign contacts. This square is the main driver on her chart. Jupiter in her first house in Sagittarius brings a jovial air and optimism to her character. Anyone with Jupiter in the first house is bound to be a little larger than life, and she will see things very much on a global scale. Mercury conjunct the Ascendant both in Scorpio shows great intelligence and deep, deep intellect, Hillary is one very clever lady. Venus in Scorpio in the 12th shows upheaval in relationships as well as suffering much and the nature of this position showed that at least one relationship would have transformed her life, and that it did. Venus in the 12th does not make relationships readily and is very secretive about what goes on within them. As much as we know about the troubles they faced, Hillary has always remained very tight lipped about the true nature of what events that went on behind the scenes when her marriage was on the rocks, very Scorpionic indeed.

The 9th house stellium explains her career, law and international links. The 9th house is the sector of the chart tied to higher knowledge, law and dealings with foreign people and Saturn here brings a career link to this. Pluto shows power and control in these areas of life, and Mars shows enthusiasm and drive. Hillary’s life was irrevocably changed (Pluto) as she met her future husband abroad (9th house) while studying at university (9th house) at Oxford in the UK studying law (9th house). The square from Saturn to Mercury shows an aptitude for writing and communication in her career, also shown through her Virgo Midheaven which focuses in on the details in work situations, a good counterbalance to her first house Jupiter seeing the wider picture.

Now this triple conjunction square to Venus and Mercury held more sinister meaning too. The square from Saturn Pluto and Mars to Mercury closely conjunct the ascendant shows the potential for an internal (12th house) brain (Mercury) injury (Mars) affecting the whole body (Ascendant). This incident could have a transformative (Pluto) effect on her career (Saturn) and any ambitions for the White House in the future. Venus rules the house of health through Taurus on the cusp of her 6th house and so her overall health would be compromised.

Now the eclipse on 13th November was a direct hit on her ascendant and on her natal Mercury. Not only did this herald a change of job, hits from solar eclipses to Mercury often see a change of profession, but also affecting the Ascendant the likelihood of something happening to her physically, in particular to her brain increased immensely. Look at this eclipse chart. The eclipse squared her Saturn so a difficult next 6 months were promised, Pluto made a trine to her Midheaven and Uranus made an inconjunct. The transformation in her role was coming anyway as Obama’s 1st term ended, but Uranus promised a more unusual and unpredictable incident to change her career path. Mars was opposite to her Uranus at this point, an accident would be the cause. There is so much you can glean from an eclipse chart and you should always take note of them. This particular eclipse of course goes a long way confirming her birth time as being very close to exact.

This is the transits chart for today. We have the transiting North Node now conjunct Hillary’s natal South Node and ascendant which always brings a fateful turning point in ones life, and transiting Chiron the wounded healer (which I have included on this chart) is on the cusp of her 4th house opposing her Midheaven, a wound is changing the face of her career. Transiting Saturn is now in her 12th house, a time of personal internal difficulties and a transit which is not easy to deal with. Saturn in the 12th often brings us into contact with institutions, hospitals and suffering and this is now the case with Hillary. In the next year or two I suspect her priorities will be changing in preparation for the transit of Saturn over her Ascendant in springtime 2014.

Tony Greig - Former England cricket captain and TV commentator dies from heart attack.

Tony Greig, the very opinionated former England cricket captain and TV commentator for Channel 9 sports in Australia passed away suddenly from a heart attack ,aged 66. Tony was born in South Africa to Scottish parents and so this qualified him to play cricket for England. He was a huge man standing at 6ft 6 inches tall, an all rounder and he played cricket with his heart on his sleeve. I will never forget a TV interview when as captain before a series against the West Indies and their ferocious famed fast bowling attack in the late 70’s, he claimed that England would make the West Indies players “grovel”. Needless to say, the West Indies never forgot those insulting words and they trounced the English team in the following test matches. His commentating style was direct yet so knowledgeable and in the world of cricket he will be greatly missed.

Tony was a Sun Libran born on 6th October 1946 in Queenstown in the Eastern Cape in South Africa. This is a dogged and stubborn guy with 6 planed in fixed signs and someone who loved to communicate with 5 planets in Air signs. His Moon was in cool and glitzy Aquarius, a position able to turn on ones feelings on and off at will, something a successful cricketer must have as emotion can be one’s worst enemy out in the middle and in the heat of battle if it gets the better of you. That Moon was most probably opposite Pluto and Saturn in Leo, which gave him depths of passion and determination to his character. Anyone who has these two planets together in their chart is always a tough cookie. Any life experiences, changes or disappointments which come around as this conjunction is aspected build character and strength within you.

Tony had vision and compassion with his Sun conjunct Neptune in Libra and his triple conjunction of Mars Jupiter (in Scorpio) and (Mercury in Libra) was brave, expansionist and willing to experience all manner of tests and take huge risks as well as being very fair but also hugely opinionated. Tony was larger than life in the way that he acted and in the way that he spoke. Both these conjunctions made aspects to that powerful Saturn Pluto conjunction in Leo (multi sextiles and squares) so his actions and words would have got him into difficulties sometimes, but also would have put him in the spotlight too. Saturn’s square to Mars and Jupiter also highlighted his international (Jupiter) sporting (Mars) career (Saturn).

You know, Tony would have wanted to be someone of note because of that Sun sextile to Pluto and he had the opportunity to do this, but Saturn in Leo is always a bit uncomfortable about being in the limelight. Being a commentator, away from being on screen but able to express ones opinions, and they were worth hearing with inventive Uranus trine to Mercury and the Moon linking emotion and speech, would have suited him down to the ground. Hidden away in the booth, heard but not seen was the perfect compromise for him. Very interesting that he suffered from epilepsy during his life, obviously a result of this trine from electric but unpredictable Uranus in Gemini, to Gemini’s ruler Mercury, the planet of the mind. Maybe this is some type of signature for the disease?

Venus the last planet I look at was peregrine in Scorpio. As I understand it, Tony was a bachelor and unmarried through his life, and the function of Scorpio here is to act as a blocker on forming relationships. This planet would have been extra strong because of it’s position of not being connected to any other planet. Again, maybe another signature sign to look out for in the charts of other individuals.

Tony’s natal Neptune at 8:31 Libra had been under attack from the Uranus Pluto square in recent times. Neptune is a planet associated with health and he had been diagnosed with lung cancer back  in October 2012. His heart attack came as Mars was square to his natal Jupiter and transiting Jupiter was trine to Neptune and inconjunct to his natal Mars. Jupiter is often prominent in my experience as death arrives. This suggests to me that he was born with Aries rising (suiting his pioneering nature) as then Mars would have been ruling his 1st house of the physical body and thus Neptune (through Pisces) would have ruled the 12th house of suffering highlighting the possibility of a hidden illness, Cancer.

Delhi rape case brings protests and lockdown to the city

On 16th December in Delhi, India, a unknown 23 year old woman was brutally gang raped on a bus by a group of men. Such was the ferocity of the attack that she was eventually flown to Singapore for medical care, where yesterday she passed away. Since the brutal incident happened, there have been widespread protests in the support of increasing women’s rights in India, and the authorities have been put on alert and much of the city have been under lockdown since she died fearing riots and further protests.

The India chart for the day of the attack, the 16th December featured an almost exact square between Pluto the planet of death, sex and brutality moving through it’s own 8th house of underground and depraved acts exactly square (0:04 degrees) to the natal Indian Neptune which rules the 11 house of groups. Transiting Jupiter was also making a trine to Neptune, taking this incident and expanding not only the nature of it but the response to it too. Jupiter is moving in the Indian 1st house so this hit and incident went to the heart of the nation in a big way, and of course Jupiter (through Sagittarius) rules the 8th house where Pluto was and is moving through.

Both Uranus, the planet of shocking events and Pluto were making aspects (Uranus a trine and Pluto an inconjunct) to natal Mercury in the 3rd house, highlighting local transport and the place where the attack took place. Transiting Neptune, ruling the 11th and moving through the public face of the 10th house was making an exact quindecile (0:01 degrees) to the Indian natal Venus, an obvious connection to a collective incident (Neptune) on a woman (Venus). Transiting Venus was conjunct the South Node, a place of detriment and opposing the Indian Ascendant and just about to enter the Indian 7th house, bringing the issue of women and their treatment in society firmly to the agenda in the country.

Since this horrid incident, Pluto has moved on to 9 degrees Capricorn making a quindecile to the natal Uranus while still square to natal Neptune, triggering I think the riots in Delhi, and recently these riots became violent as Mars made an inconjunct aspect with the Indian natal Mars. Uranus through Aquarius rules the 10th house of the public face of the country, and so the politicians will now get involved to sort out the mess and hopefully legislate to impose tough penalties against these type of crimes against women.

Women across the sub-continent have always been seen in a lesser light than they should be and I hope that this tragedy can strengthen their rights and especially protect them a little more from men who think they are little more than objects to taken advantage of.

Is the United States going to fall over the fiscal cliff?

President Obama may have flown back from his Christmas holiday in Hawaii to try and find a solution the the paralysis that is affecting negotiations to avoid a fiscal disaster on January 1st. At that point, swinging spending cuts will be imposed in America and taxes on ordinary people will rise,  however the gridlock within Capitol Hill seems to be remaining and no matter what anyone says or does, an agreement to prevent the US lurching into a new financial crisis seems none the nearer, or is it? I look at the astrology to work out what may happen in the next critical couple of days.

Now there has always been a debate to which chart to use with regard to the United States, simply because nobody knows exactly the time which the US was born. There are three general schools of thought. One is the Gemini rising chart but this is based around a formation time of 02:17am in the morning which I find completely implausible. To think that the declaration of independence in the United States was made in the dead of night does not make any sense to me whatsoever. Surely it would have occurred at a time of the day when there would have been some type of formal ceremony allowing the local people to be present and to see everything.  Remember, in 1776, there was no electricity and so no lighting available except that of fire to even sign any documents. This completely rules out the Gemini chart in my eyes.

The two charts I favour are the Scorpio chart  set for Philadelphia at 14:41 hours (look at a $100 bill and you will see a very similar time on the clock tower in the picture of Independence Hall in Philadelphia on the back of the bill) and the opposite of the Gemini rising chart, the Sibly chart which has Sagittarius rising and is set fro 17.10 hrs. Both of these charts “work” and seem to respond to the prevailing moods and events within the US. I will look at both in regard to this “crisis”.

First the Sibly (Sagittarius) chart. We have transiting Saturn transiting through the 11th house of groups and parties, representing the two opposing sides in American politics making a square to the nodal axis which sits across the financial axis of the Sibly chart. Saturn causes delays and frustration and of course this frustration is being played out between the opposing sides in the house, wrangling over the US finance (2nd house) and the huge debt (8th house) that has been amassed which does need to be reduced in some manner. The 8th house represents personal taxation issues which are also a bone of contention. Saturn on this chart also rules the 2nd house of the money supply with Capricorn on the cusp. Now the ruler of this chart is Jupiter through the Sagittarian ascendant, the planet of freedom and expansion. With Jupiter moving retrograde through the 6th house of the working classes, those who are in line to suffer the most, any expansion is likely to be on hold until Jupiter turns direct. Jupiter does turn on 30th January, so maybe some sort of agreement may be found between now and then to set the ball rolling again in the US; that is according to this particular chart.

 

If anything, the picture on the Scorpio chart is more pronounced. We have Saturn making the same square to the Nodes, however Saturn is poised over the Scorpio Ascendant which lies at 8:35 Scorpio. This heralds a new start in US politics, if an agreement can be found. We still have a link to the parties in the US with natal Saturn in the 11th house and the financial problems and the blockage on the debt and taxes can be seen through a quindecile from Pluto (the chart ruler) moving through the 2nd house of the money supply to the ruler of the 8th house of taxes and debt, Mercury (Gemini on the cusp). In effect, this quindecile is changing the American attitude to money but also is blocking or restricting any deal on sorting this out while allowing the debt to multiply. Jupiter is moving retrograde in this 8th house for the moment, but the worry is that once it starts moving forward, not only will the tax intake rise, but the debt will expand under Jupiter’s influence too, and this would be disastrous for the economy. it is also interesting that the transiting Nodes on this chart alone will be square to the Moon, representing the people, which sits in the 4th house of the opposition. It is true that those in the opposing party to that of the administration, the Republicans are the ones who seem to be holding this whole process up now.

Saturn will pass over the Ascendant in retrograde on 23rd April 2013, a regressive step and maybe one designed to put a sticking plaster over a gaping wound. Saturn will re-enter the 12th house of suffering then and will only clear this degree point and the Ascendant on 17th September 2013. Saturn entering the 1st house will be the beginning of a new era, but one where you start to sort out in house and personal problems. It is a rebuilding phase in Saturn’s cycle and one which over the next 4 years will be intensely painful for the United States.

As you can see, in different ways both charts work, so looking at them, will something come out of these last minute talks? Well, lucky Jupiter is just about to move on the Scorpio chart back into the 7th house of agreements, public relations and one to one meetings just before the end of the year and I believe that a last minute package to save the US from falling over the financial abyss can be agreed. However this may just be a temporary solution and it may not be until September 2013 that a proper deal can be thrashed out. by that time, the debt and the financial problems the US economy will be facing will be all the larger.

Venus Conjunct Antares - Deep passions, divided opinions

This aspect is valid now and also on Christmas Eve

Venus is now making contact with Antares the watcher of the West and the heart of the Scorpion in Scorpio, one of the most significant stars in the sky. Venus rules relationships and money whereas Antares is linked to high passions, mental alertness, risk taking, fierce determination and violence. There is a military link to Antares and interestingly Manilius, an ancient astrologer in the 1st Century AD wrote that "The Scorpion presides over arms".

How utterly appropriate then that US opinion and the people are now deeply divided over two aspects of life, guns and taxes. Robson said of the Venus Antares connection that it was " Insincere, dishonest, energetic and able but selfish". I think that rather sums up the people at the middle of the two main arguments carrying on in the United States right now, don't you??

In your own lives, this Christmas could well see a lot of fun and passion as these two influences meet up on tehe 24th December. There is not so much money flying around now, and most people are a bit short of cash, so I can see everyone going out and making a real party and not worrying about how much everything costs, for one night at least.

Tragic shooting in Connecticut claims the lives of 26, including 20 children.

This is the most shocking story I think I have ever blogged about. As Uranus goes direct I mentioned on my Facebook page (also called Solaris Astrology if you wish to find it) that it would bring down an almighty thunderbolt before a storm began. In astrological terms, it was an easy call to make and I worried about the consequences of what might occur. Now we all know. There has been another shooting in the US following the Oregon shopping mall incident just a few days ago, and this time it is as shocking as you could imagine. The death toll at the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut lies at 26, including 20 young children aged between 5 and 10 years of age who were tragically gunned down. Heart breaking doesn’t even get close to explaining how awful this incident is.

At the time that the police and authorities were called, 09.30am, the Moon was just past a conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn joining that nasty Yod that I have been explaining for the past couple of weeks and making a square to newly direct Uranus far more deep and emotional. Uranus was also making a very close trine to Mercury, which is ruling the 5th house of children. Maybe we will discover in the future that this trine was a trigger in the decision making of the shooter? Notice that Mars Pluto and the Moon in the 12th house of suffering and sacrifice, Saturn in the 9th house of education and higher learning, the point of the Yod in the 4th house of endings, although if the incident started just 10 minutes earlier, then it would then be in the 5th house of children too. The Moon making it’s conjunction with Pluto brought in another element. This was a family tragedy, ruled by the Moon, as the shooter named as 20 year old Adam Lanza killed his mother in his attack at the school, and most of the children shot were in her classroom.

Across the latitude of Newtown, 41 degrees North, Antares which is very ruthless and passionate has been the Heliacal Rising Star and violent Algol the Heliacal Setting Star, and I am sure that this star combination is creating the tense and unstable atmosphere for the horrible events which have been occurring in the US in the past week.
Remember too that Antares, one of the most important stars in the heavens sits directly opposite another royal star, Aldebaran. Antares is watcher of the West and Aldebaran under the pressure of that Jupiter/Black Moon Lilith conjunction at the point of the Yod is the Watcher of the East. This important in the sky axis is getting pummelled and now we are seeing the results.

My sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the relatives of the victims, and to all the people of Connecticut. In my view, something urgent needs to be done to put a stop to these terrible incidents with guns, and it needs to happen soon.

Ravi Shankar - A master of Indian music

The world of music and the whole of India will be mourning the passing of one of the foremost sitar players in history, Ravi Shankar. His was a career of 80 years, a master of one of the most difficult instruments anyone would want to play. He came to prominence in the swinging 60’s when his friendship with George Harrison of the Beatles fame catapulted him onto the world stage. He passed away in California, a week after an operation from which he failed to recover. He was 92 years of age.

Ravi was born on 7th April 1920 in Varanasi, India - the magical golden city on the banks of the Ganges. He had a fiery Aries Sun which was peregrine in his chart, the sign of a true pioneer. Ravi’s chart was balanced between planets in assertive fire signs and emotional water, either 4 or 5 in each element (depending on the position of the Moon). He has an optimistic, expansive and very spiritual Jupiter/Neptune conjunction in showy Leo square to a strong willed Mars in Scorpio, this was a man with deep convictions, strong ideals and deeply creative abilities. Mars formed part of a grand water trine between Pluto in Cancer, Uranus in Pisces, which extended into a creative kite with Saturn in detail orientated Virgo. Pluto in Cancer is very tender hearted, and is very tied to one’s homeland as well as one’s national traditions.

That Saturn Uranus opposition drove this kite showing ambition, an ultra perfectionist attitude (Saturn) and genius like artistic talent (Uranus in musical Pisces). This was probably squared by his Moon (either in Scorpio or Sagittarius). He would have always wanted to marry new styles with more traditional ones - this would have come naturally to him, thus his connection to Western musicians, especially his relationship with George Harrison. Ravi was a classical musician at heart, but he had the foresight to open up and spread his influence to a much wider audience, so I suspect that his Moon in this case was just into Sagittarius which highlights travel and international links.

Allied to the deep emotion of the water trine which picks up rhythms from within his soul (this is why Ravi was so brilliant at what he did), Mercury/Venus also in Pisces brought idealism, a poetic and abstract mind which could understand a sense of style and design as well as the complexities of music; he wrote as well as he played. Saturn made a quindecile to Mercury, bringing a career focus to his musical and communicative ability.

Ravi had that wonderful Uranus in Pisces influence conjunct the Star Deneb Adige, which sits in the constellation of Cygnus the Swan. This is the shaman's star, a star with mystic and transcendental feelings, and his music perfectly reflected these qualities. Ravi may have now departed this earth, but his music and legacy will live on for ever...

Brad Pitt – Preparing to walk down the aisle again?

Brad Pitt is, according to many reports across tinsel town, finally preparing to marry Angelina Jolie. The long awaited decision to make their relationship “official” comes after a lot of pressure and probably earache from his children who allegedly have been asking him for a long time now to become their father. The superstar couple have been going out together since they starred alongside each other in the film Mr & Mrs Smith.

 

Brad may well be a Sun Sign Sagittarius and have his Ascendant in the sign of the archer too, however he does have a very earthy chart with his Moon in Capricorn and 5 other planets also in earth signs. This chart is veered to the eastern hemisphere, so Brad is someone who does look out for himself first, before he thinks of others. Brad’s Sagittarian Sun stresses wisdom and learning over time, and this combines nicely with the emotional ambitions of the Capricorn Moon. He probably has a terrific sense of humour as Sagittarius is thoughtful and Capricorn can be very quirky.

Brad’s Sun and Mars sit in his first house so this is a guy who doesn’t like to hang around, I suspect he loves fast cars and driving fast in them and he is likely to be rather competitive and a sports fan. That Mars makes a rather reckless and risk taking trine to Uranus and Aries which Mars rules sits on the cusp of his 5th house of competition showing that he would always would have been very attracted to testing himself, his strength and his abilities. Mars makes a trine to Pluto too and it is noticeable that Brad had made a lot of action type films like Fight Club and he is also attracted to crime and psychological movies too reflecting the Pluto influence on Mars.

The first house Sun is rather individualistic and it is peregrine. This is a man who does not want to be tied down or boxed in at all. Freedom is the name of the game for Brad, and this is one of the reasons that he has been seemingly happier than for a long time, being in a relationship but not formally so. There is another key to this. The ruler of Brad’s 7th house of marriage is Mercury, (Gemini is on the cusp). His natal Mercury is trine to the Pluto Uranus conjunction in his 9th house and as such, he will feel happier in a non-traditional type of relationship. One where he has independence and room to breath, go off and work. One wonders how he will react once he does tie the knot again, as we all know how his previous marriage to Jennifer Aniston ended.

That Uranus Pluto conjunction in Virgo shows that he has very non traditional religious and philosophical views, reportedly he has said he waivers between being an atheist and an agnostic. These radical views, especially for a lad who was brought up a Southern Baptist, go to the heart of his being, as that conjunction is square to his ascendant representing his self. Brad has a quick and technical mind and I suspect he has a sharp temper too, with Mercury trine to Uranus (and conjunct Mars), and he has one which will love getting to the bottom of any mystery or conundrum with Mercury trine to Pluto.

Brad is ostensibly a very practical and serious guy with Mercury, Moon and Venus all in Capricorn. Here is someone who does like to get to the bare bones of any situation, loves psychology and the inner motivations of anyone’s personality, is very much a cynic and needs concrete proof before he will believe anything. Their is also a very sympathetic and humane side to Brad and if ever anyone needed a shoulder to cry on, he would provide it. I think that there is great idealism within him, but not a lot of outward emotion. The Capricorn Moon needs love but does not wish to look weak, so it will hold back and prefer to look business like and strong. Maybe that’s why he does come across as a little cold to many people.

Jupiter in Aries is again very pioneering and is not afraid of taking risks with it being square to Mars. He will want and need a spacious and comfortable home in a peaceful environment with Pisces on the cusp of his 4th house and Jupiter sitting within. Neptune, the planet of films and artistry sits in the 11th house of hopes and dreams square to his Aquarian Saturn in his second house. Here is an obvious link between the film industry and his work and career. Saturn in the second house fears a lack of personal finance, and so Brad will work and work to make sure that he has enough money to allay these fears. This is a rather aloof position and sign for Saturn to be in, he will rather distrust the motives of others, although this square does bring a recognition and a desire to help people in need. Brad with Angelina has been involved in many charity schemes around the world and he also has interest in helping stem-cell research; Neptune is showing it’s medical side here.

The chart above shows Brad’s progressed planets and you will notice that Brad’s progressed moon is now closing in on an exact sextile to his natal Mercury, the planet which rules his 7th house of marriage. I wouldn’t mind betting that in the next couple of months as the Moon connects with Neptune, there will be a secret behind closed doors wedding between Brad and Angelina. Neptune’s influence here is to drop a veil over any happy proceedings.

On the transits chart, transiting Jupiter is close to the cusp of Brad’s 7th house of marriage and transiting Mars has been on his natal Mercury ruling this house maybe encouraging him to make a positive decision. Transiting Pluto is moving close to a conjunction to his 5th house ruler Mars, this house rules his children. This looks as if their status are about to under go a change. Saturn is midway between that Mars and Uranus making sextiles to each. Maybe tradition in the form of Saturn is finally influencing his thinking? Uranus rules the higher mind and affect his lower mind too with Aquarius on the cusp of his third house. Finally, transiting Pluto is making a square to his chart ruler Jupiter. Does this suggest a change in his family (Jupiter in 4th house) as well as his personal status (1st house) ?

Patrick Moore – The father of British astronomy

It was reported this afternoon that Patrick Moore, the TV Astronomer who brought the planets, stars and constellations to the masses on TV in the UK passed away aged 89. Patrick was a legend in the UK and a fine scientist too, appearing on his show “The Sky at Night” regularly since 1957, one of the longest running TV programmes on the BBC. I take a quick look at his astrology chart and at the man who brought Astronomy to a wider audience.

Patrick was born on 4th March 1923 reportedly at 10am (Astro Databank) although this time is disputed. He had his Pisces Sun closely conjunct Uranus square to his Gemini ascendant, a magnet to look towards the stars if ever there was one, and then to talk about them. Patrick's Mercury in Aquarius was conjunct his Midheaven in the same sign, opposed by Neptune, the planet of broadcasting. Mercury also received a trine from Saturn, the planet of ambition and career - he was the first and probably only ever astronomer who became a household name through his TV show, "The Sky at Night".

The Neptune Mercury opposition in his chart made a t-square with lucky, optimistic and knowledgeable Jupiter at the point of the formation - also a link to the international fame and travel that his astronomy career afforded him as well as a love of music too - he played the xylophone with aplomb. His popular and fair minded Libran Moon sat in the 5th house of entertainment as was his North Node. Patrick was always destined to bring his love of astronomy to a wider audience and this Moon making a trine to Venus in Capricorn would have brought him popularity and a thoughtful caring attitude. This was a passionate man with Venus square to his Mars in Taurus, someone who was determined, patient and unselfish, the Moon in Taurus in the 12th house is very much motivated to work on behalf of, and for the betterment of, other people.

Pluto in his 2nd house trine to the Sun and Uranus craves to be notable in one’s group and Patrick was made President of the British Astronomical Society, a position he would have cherished. That Pluto would have been fixated with money and possessions and Patrick would have known that he would have had to project his passion into TV to gain the money to live the luxury life that this Pluto needs. Pluto trine Uranus is revolutionary, but in a good way and he certainly changed the way everyone in Britain regarded the stars and planets circling above us all.

Looking at the stars on the day of his birth, Patrick was born with Mars conjunct Mirach one of the stars in Andromeda in the constellation of the Princess, a conjunction which made him receptive to new ideas, and I think this conjunction motivated him to act upon them. Uranus conjunct Achernar in Eridanus (the constellation of the River) brought him a love of science, knowledge and of course of the stars and planets. His North Node on Denebola, the tail of the Lion in Leo I think encouraged him to give a voice to Astronomers across the UK and the world, a group who had previously been seen as "alternative" and who had no other significant voice within society. In an age when the space race to the Moon and explorations to the planets hotted up, Patrick was there as the BBC's resident expert to explain the complexities of the cosmos to the masses. His Jupiter sat on the star Zuben Eschamali in Libra and this position singled him out as a king of his profession and it guaranteed him recognition for his work.

Looking at his star parans, Patrick had Menkar in Cetus the whale rising on his ascendant on the day of his birth, a star which connected him to the masses. The one other remarkable star paran connection was Sirius, the dog star or the "the Shining One" rising as the Moon was culminating (reaching it's highest point in the sky). Sirius brings fame for an action that one does or it finds a sacred purpose for everyday or mundane work. Patrick's claim to fame above all others was his detailed mapping of the Moon, no doubt helped by his North Node sitting in precise and patient Virgo, which set a standard that people still follow today.

Sir Patrick certainly inspired me to have an interest in the stars and the planets. He will be greatly missed by myself, and all who have a love of wonders of the universe...

Mars Conjunct Rukbat – Creating foundations for the future

This aspect is starting to take effect and is active until 10th December

Hot on the heels of Mars conjunct Vega, Mars moves into a conjunction with the star Rukbat a day later. Rukbat is to be found in the constellation of Sagittarius in the knee of one of the legs of the Centaur. In Arabic, Rukbat literally translates as “knee”. For an archer to shoot straight and true, he has to have a steady stance, and the knees and legs provide this for him. This is a star where you find solidity, a stable base providing a position from where one can act.

Mars arriving here brings the idea of beginning something solid and strong, laying down foundations for future growth and progress. In a sense this star which although in the constellation of Sagittarius embodies the whole notion and ethos of Capricorn's reputation for strength and stability. Rukbat is currently residing at 16:49 Capricorn.

This is a conjunction to take note of and to use to your advantage. If you want to set something in stone or make something that you wish to remain solid and permanent, then this is a great time to act. All new buildings need a strong base to begin with, as do relationships, families, plans and projects, ideas, philosophies, indeed all areas of life. By acting now and making all the necessary preparations, you can provide yourself with a strong starting point so that in the future you can fulfil your ambitions and needs.

Mars conjunct Vega – Go on, be artistic…

This conjunction is now valid until 8th December

This is a lovely connection between Mars the planet of action and the star Vega, a stunning star in the constellation of Lyra, the harp. This star is the musical star in the heavens. Mozart had this star rising when he was born and it contributes artistic talent at your fingers if it connects on an angle in your chart or on a personal planet. I think that the placement of this star is one of the reasons that Capricorn is also considered one of the musical signs in the zodiac.

Vega itself is associated with Orpheus who the Greeks believed owned the Lyre in the skies. Orpheus was able to play enchanting music that could tame animals, so this star is not only associated with music but also representative of poetry, spells, magic and charisma. On a more negative note, the power of Vega can be used in a more unsavoury way in being able to con and deceive people.

Mars brings its energy here onto Vega, and the urge to create and produce things of beauty is heightened and increased. If you are artistic, then this is a superb time to use the inspiration of this conjunction to create some magic. So also is the temptation to take a chance and trick people into doing what you want them to do so be careful not to be on the receiving end in the next couple of days. Robson also says that the beguiling power of Mars on Vega is good for scientific interests and research, can encourage unpopular opinions to be aired, but is also favourable for gain.

Jupiter retrograde conjunct Aldebaran – Bestowing the riches of the earth but also stirring up religious tensions.

This aspect is now effective between now and 20th December 2012

This is the second time that Jupiter has approached 10 Gemini (actually 9:59 Gem) in the past few months and this time it does so in retrograde motion. The first time this connection with Aldebaran, one of the Royal Persian stars and the “Watcher of the East” was made was on 29th July at the height of the Olympic Games. This aspect does bestow riches, honour and much success to those whose intentions are true and worthy, however if you try to take an advantage through devious actions, then great ruin and shame can come upon you.

This time Jupiter not only conjuncts with Aldebaran, but it also makes a conjunction with Black Moon Lilith on this star. This I see as a bad omen and it sets a marker down for the future. Black Moon Lilith can show evil intent behind the façade of the smiling face, she seduces you in and once she has had her wicked ways, Lilith spits you out leaving you in pieces. My advice is to be careful of your actions now, even if you are sorely tempted to deceive in order to gain. If you are true and honest to your endeavours, then you will inherit the riches of the earth. If not, then woes betide you.

Aldebaran now sits in Gemini and opposes Antares, the heart of the Scorpion that sits in faith based Sagittarius. It is interesting to note that these two stars switched signs from Taurus and Scorpio into Gemini and Sagittarius in the 1270 & 1280’s, at the time of the crusades. We all know that religious tensions between Christian and Muslim believers have existed from those times, and still exist today. Religious tensions are part of the whole picture across this axis in the skies.

Now as I mentioned in the title of this post, Aldebaran brings the riches of the earth, and in Israel just as this aspect was forming after the last round of violence and the promotion of Palestine in statehood terms in the UN, Prime Minister Netanyahu issued a decree for a new round of settlements to be built on land in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. This effectively closes the door for any two-state solution between the Israelis and Palestinians, as the division of the land would be virtually impossible after these houses are built.

This I see this conjunction and the actions of the Israelis as “taking advantage” of a situation for their own benefit and in the process trying to derail something the majority of the world are calling for by denying those riches in the future to the Palestinians. If the omens of history are correct, and Aldebaran promises disgrace if you try to force the issue in your favour when you should not do so, then Israel and Netanyahu may pay a heavy, heavy price somewhere along the tracks. Karma exists and the stars in the heavens never forget, or ever let you off the hook. We may find out more how all this will play out in this Middle Eastern saga in mid March 2013, as Jupiter connects for a last time with the “Watcher of the East”.

William & Kate – Royal baby is on the way…

Back on the 2nd February on this site I made a very bold prediction. I was looking at the horoscope for William, the Duke of Cambridge and I noticed that a significant time was coming up for him at the start of December. All the indications looked as if there might be an announcement of a royal baby around this time, so I posted this up for the world to see. Moving 10 months on and my prediction came absolutely true, almost to the day, proving without doubt in my eyes that you absolutely can see the future through the power of Astrology…
