Jessica Simpson – Multi talented Texan pop-star announces she is pregnant.

A nice story for once to report on. One of America’s favourite female stars, Jessica Simpson has announced that she is expecting a child, just over year after announcing her engagement to former American football player, Eric Johnson. Jessica it seems has much to look forward to in 2012, and today I look at the all American girl made good from the southern state of Texas.

Jessica was born on 10th July 1980 in Abilene, Texas in the US at 07.50 hrs. She is a Sun sign Cancerian, with a lively Gemini Moon and a very showy Leo Ascendant. Her Sun Moon combination is a little bit tricky. The Gemini Moon lives on one’s nerves and yet the Cancers Sun requires to protect one’s position and personal security however is very sensitive. Immediately, one senses that behind the celebrity mask, Jessica does suffer with anxiety and will worry quite a lot. Her mind will be very sharp and her intuition and instinct is something that she should listen too as it will not lie to her. The Leo ascendant sort of comes to the rescue here, as it brings with it a love of being centre stage, a place where she can discard all the indecision and anxiousness, at least for a while.

Jessica’s Sun sits close to Mercury in the 12th house. For such a public performer and personality, this is really a very surprising position. The Sun in the 12th is much happier helping people and working in service behind the scenes. Being on stage is not the place that this Sun likes to be. This of course is completely at odds with the Leo Ascendant. You feel a real clash going on here, and with the nervousness and potential anxiety complex I mentioned earlier, I bet Jessica gets very uptight before she goes on stage. Why she goes on stage and performs can be explained by looking at the chart as a whole.

As always, the parents and your attitude and relationship to them affects your whole life, as does your education and formative years. These would have been difficult for Jessica, and would have driven her on to prove people wrong. With squares between Moon and Saturn/Mars, I can assume that her relationship with her mother would have been difficult, aggressive and quite upsetting. Her relationship with her father would have been compulsive and powerful, possibly easier than with her mother. He was a minister and her faith is shown by Pisces the sign of spirituality on the cusp of the 9th house of faith and education. Her first singing experience was at he local gospel church. As Uranus sits in the 4th house trine to her Sun, her home life would have been chaotic, and Jessica would have craved independence and freedom. Seeing a potential music career, she dropped out of school at 16 (shown by Pisces’ ruler Neptune being square to a malefic planet, Saturn) to pursue a dream of performing, after being discovered by a Colombia record executive, Tommy Mottola. She was on her way to escape her difficult home-life.   

We have two t-squares on this chart. The first connects the Sun Mercury conjunction to Pluto in the 3rd house of communication and Jessica’s active Aries Ascendant. An Aries ascendant wants a very active career. One wants to be the best and has to always have new challenges. Pluto being square to the Sun and Mercury and opposite this Midheaven absolutely demands to be someone special and well known. Jessica requires personal recognition. The second t-square connects Saturn and Mars to an opposition of Neptune and a Moon/Venus conjunction. We have three very influential and powerful planets, Pluto Saturn and Mars in the 3rd house of communication. Certainly, Jessica is someone who needs to get her message out, through her work indicated here by the presence of Saturn.
The square to Neptune in the 5th house of creativity and entertainment brings motivation to create music, to sing and to act. Jessica as her Aries ascendant demands has not just stuck to pop music, but has branched out into country and and she has appeared on TV and acted in films. This Neptune also feeds into the Pluto/Midheaven opposition via a sextile and a trine as well as making sesquisquares to the Sun and Mercury. Despite the planetary conflict I mentioned earlier, the tension and drive of Saturn and the love of music and creativity in her chart overrides the fear of being in the spotlight.

Jessica is a very hardworking girl and her energy to keep going and to push on very much shown through the constructive Saturn/Mars link. With both these planets in Virgo, Jessica will be very much the ultimate perfectionist and hugely self critical, very demanding and possibly temperamental and somewhat irritable if things don’t go her way. She will be rather serious and powerful in voicing her opinions, but only after some serious thought and consideration. In truth, she will not like voicing her opinions, but when she does, she will do it with utter conviction.   

The other end of the t-square sees the Moon in conjunction to Venus opposite to Neptune. This aspects softens her personality immensely, bring a real sensitivity and kindness to her. She will love children and the news announced today will utterly delight her. When her child is born, it will propel Jessica into dreamland. For someone who seems to be very gentle, impressionable and on edge most of the time, I think that the birth of her first child will bring her a lot of confidence and great amounts of joy.

This opposition goes a long way to explaining her moving into the beauty industry, with fragrances and fashion part of the range she promotes. Jessica will blind herself in love and relationships, and she would have had several let downs and disappointments in her love life before she met Eric Johnson. Moon Venus opposite Neptune in the 5th does look for the perfect love, something which is ultimately difficult to find. Through this aspect we also see an understanding of suffering (Neptune) and a need to help charitable groups and associations (11th house), especially with children (5th house). I think this is something that will make up a large part of Jessica’s life as she gets older.
Jessica has been known for her altruistic and generous nature, and this is shown by Jupiter which sits alone in the 2nd house. This Jupiter dominates the whole chart. We have here a love of money and spending it, not only on oneself, which she will do constantly and possibly recklessly, but also in being generous to other people too. No matter what happens to Jessica, she will always have an open optimistic attitude the colours her whole character. Of course right now, she has a lot to smile about.

The baby I believe was conceived as transiting Saturn was approaching her natal Pluto at 19 Libra, which through Scorpio rules Jessica’s 5th house of children. Notice that this connection activated her Midheaven and her public profile. Saturn hit 19 Libra in the first week of October, and the influence of Pluto means a complete change in her way of life. The announcement also came while the transiting North Node was moving through her 5th house of children and as the transiting South Node connected with Jessica’s natal Venus. Transiting also Mars connected in the past 48 hours with her North Node, Mars of course rules her public image, so this is positive news bang on time. Transiting Jupiter is trine to her natal Jupiter so this is a happy and optimistic time for Jessica and here is another link to children with Sagittarius intercepted in the 5th house too. Transiting Saturn is about to enter her 4th house, so Jessica and her fiance may be house hunting in the next year or so for the perfect family home, and I would expect them to officially tie the knot in the next year or two as Saturn moves through the 4th house of home and family. The next year I think will be wonderful one for her.

Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries – After just 72 days, Kim files for divorce.

Well that didn’t last long, did it?? After just 72 days Kim Kardashian filed for divorce quoting irreconcilable differences between them, and quite frankly it doesn’t surprise me much. Back on 22nd August I had a look at their composite chart (below) and there did seem to be a lot of problems associated with it. So it has proved. I went on to write the following assessment…

 

On the Composite chart, which shows a combination look at the couple as a pair and how they will relate to each other, we see more difficulty. There is a very stressful opposition from Venus up to a Sun Mercury & Neptune conjunction. Sun Mercury and Neptune is very idealistic and sensitive, but is also rather delusionary and deceptive. It does suggest that their communication will get better as the relationship develops, but the chance of ultimate disappointment is definitely there. The ideals and hopes at the start tend to be too high, and when reality does set in, you are let down in a big way.

Depending on Kris’ birth time, there may be a Sun Moon opposition. This creates great attraction between the two but also competition and a sense that something is not quite right, there is an imbalance between the two personalities which causes tension. Now this Venus Neptune Sun Mercury opposition makes a wedge with Saturn and Pluto at the point. Saturn and Pluto in a composite chart shows they two will have difficult times together and that staying together will be a struggle, but these difficulties will come from the outside world. Either you fight to keep the relationship stronger, and in a way this benefits both of you in the long term bringing you together as one force against the world, or you give in and split. Some succeed with this conjunction but many often fail. This shows how much you do love each other and how you cope with adversity as a couple.

Uranus and Jupiter together in conjunction shows that the two of them will need room to breath within the relationship, being stuck under the same roof for days on end will not suit them. In their present situation, it may be fine as they have many outside commitments but in the future? This aspect will allow them to grow and have unusual experiences especially in travel that will benefit each other.

Finally the composite Mars squares to Saturn and Pluto. This is rather nasty as both Kim and Kris will be working at cross purposes to each other. At best they will tend to get in each others way, at worst the relationship can turn into a battlefield as one will want to do one thing and the other will want to do something else. In a sexual sense, they will have differing emotional moods creating potential tension in the bedroom. Tension will exist between the two and with Mars square to Pluto, this could eventually turn spiteful. Mars and Pluto is very competitively intense, with physical and psychological battles. Both Kim and Kris will need the space I mentioned before, without which this relationship could turn into a full scale war.

I hope they find happiness, but I fear over time that the differences and tensions between them may become too hard to bare. Certainly if I were advising them, I would tell them to be tolerant of each other, to give each other plenty of room and to try and find interests that they both enjoy doing. Find some sort of common ground that they can gravitate to in the difficult moments that will come from such a high profile marriage.

So what has gone wrong astrologically? Well looking at the current transits to the composite chat, I can see the reasons immediately. Notice the composite Nodal axis and the transiting Nodal axis. It tells you all you need to know. The transiting South Node is almost upon the composite Moon (the Nodes move clockwise around the chart) showing that this is a bad time emotionally for them. The killer blows however are transiting Pluto which is conjunct the composite South Node, squared by transiting Uranus. Transiting Neptune is also trine to  the 8th house Saturn/Pluto conjunction, bringing confusion and disintegration to an already difficult placement. Neptune dissolves and rather than sticking together and fighting as I suggested they should, they drifted apart.

Another good pay day for the Los Angeles lawyers it seems lies ahead, and I suppose it does keep Kim in the news. As for Kris, it’s bad times and rather expensive too, unless he gets the $2 million dollar wedding ring back. As it is, the NBA is still on strike, and supposedly he will not be being paid for a while to come. Don’t you just feel sort of depressed when you hear these type of stories? I guess it’s just another normal day in Hollywood……

Jimmy Savile – Eccentric and charitable, the DJ who was loved, but never properly understood.

Sir Jimmy Savile was an enigma. One of the pioneering DJ’s of British pop culture, an iconic figure who was huge figure on radio in the 60‘s and 70’s and during the 80’s was instrumental in charity events and fun runs, raising thousands of pounds for people in need and appearing on Jim’ll Fix It, a programme which granted the dreams of countless children who wrote to Jimmy from across the length and breadth of the UK.

Sir Jimmy was born in Leeds in the UK on 31st October 1926, so tomorrow he would have been 85. I do not have a birth time which is a real shame. What we do know is that Jimmy was a secretive Sun Scorpio with a rather critical Virgo Moon. The combination gives one a rather superior air, someone who knows exactly what one is about and what one wants, yet keeps that knowledge away from everyone else. Jimmy had a very deep and very quick and clever mind. Jimmy’s Sun sat in conjunction to Venus, so this was a socially aware yet private man, who liked being around people. He got to know them, but few ever got to know him.

There was however a keen competitive edge him too, with a sharp temper if he was angered. Mars is in Taurus, which brings energy in a steady way, and this aided him to do marathons for charity. This energy would have been supplemented vastly by Mars being sextile to Pluto and being square to Jupiter. Notice that the Moon in Virgo is quindecile to Uranus in Pisces. This shows a real compassionate focus and emotion towards suffering and serving others. Jupiter in Aquarius shows huge generosity to helping people in a humanitarian but detached way. The Moon (assuming he was born late morning through afternoon) was at the point of a wedge formation completed by this Sun Mars opposition, highlighting his charity running.

Returning to the Moon in Virgo, this shows a real shyness emotionally, especially showing one’s feeling to others. Even if you have strong emotions about someone, this Moon may prevent you ever from having the courage from expressing those feelings. Now Virgo’s ruler Mercury is conjunct to Saturn in the natal chart, adding even more of a block to one’s expression of emotion. I think there was one more block in Jimmy’s life, his mother. The Moon in Virgo is very critical, and even though he had a very, very close relationship with her shown by a wide conjunction between Pluto and the Nodal axis (the maternal axis on the chart), those critical words would have been ringing in his ears since childhood, and his association with her control and criticism would have coloured his association and thoughts of being with other women. Jimmy never got married in his life and he lived with his mother who he nicknamed “The Duchess” until she died. This Moon had one more effect. It severely cools the emotions, so much that one feels that you do not deserve praise or love making you very cold and aloof.

Moving on, Saturn and Mercury sit together conjunct straddling the cusp of Scorpio and Sagittarius. These two planets receive a square from Neptune and a trine from Uranus. Mercury in Sagittarius is very open and thinks of big things and has big ideas. Jimmy was always looking ahead. Saturn in Scorpio fears emotional intimacy and letting go allowing one to experience and fully appreciate personal relationships. This is another link to his bachelor life. The two planets together brought a serious, stern edge to the way he communicated. Here was a man who like to work in solitude where he could compose his own thoughts before speaking. Of course being in a radio studio gave him exactly that type of atmosphere.

Saturn and Mercury square to Neptune in Leo, a link to popular (Leo) music (Neptune). Jimmy first worked on Radio Luxembourg, before moving the UK’s premiere pop music station BBC Radio One in 1968 where he broadcasted until 1987. He them moved to several commercial stations until 1997. He was broadcasting into his 70’s when he effectively retired, returning to the microphone briefly in 2005 for a couple of years. Jimmy’s appearance and his manner was very distinctive with his shell suits and forever smoking cigars, and the trine from Uranus to Mercury did give him a rather unusual and unique way of communicating, especially his love of catchphrases like "as it 'appens" and "Guys and Gals”. The trine to Saturn shows that he was a pioneer of all things new, tearing down old barriers to present fresh and new ideas and music.

He passed away as transiting Neptune was directly opposite natal Neptune square to natal Saturn. Neptune connecting with Saturn especially in a square does always tend to weaken the health. At the same time Jimmy’s progressed Moon was more than likely square to natal Pluto, which is difficult to deal with, especially as the natal Moon was afflicted by a quindecile to Uranus. His death came a shock to many, aptly echoing the Uranus connection.

He was a true British eccentric and philanthropist and he worked tirelessly to promote charity giving even before the advent of Live Aid, and his like will probably never be seen again. He died of pneumonia a proud Yorkshire man in his home town of Leeds.

Qantas – Strike grounds passengers and planes as Australian airline considers major reforms.

Qantas otherwise known as Queensland And Northern Territories Aerial Services is the oldest continuing airline in the world, but it is not operating any flights at the moment. A company policy of major restructures including outsourcing services to other countries to cut costs have caused the existing workforce to go on an indefinite strike, grounding the whole fleet and stranding passengers across the world. As ever, Astrology can pinpoint the reasons for the problems.

 

Qantas was founded on 16th Nov 1920 when the papers creating the company were signed in a Brisbane hotel. Unfortunately, the time of the signing is not known, but taking midday as a start time would not be far off. The chart is dominated by a mini grand trine. This is formed by Mars and the Moon trine to Saturn and Jupiter with the Sun and Mercury at the point of the feature. Here we see that the communication of the company Mercury is very self interested and hard line (both Sun and Mercury are in very close conjunction in Scorpio), showing no mercy. Growth ambition and expansion shown by the Saturn Jupiter conjunction will only  be possible in taking on (Mars) the employees (Moon) who will fight and argue (Mars) their case. Notice the houses highlighted here. Saturn and Jupiter sits in the 7th house of relationships and open enemies, Mars and the moon sit in the 11th house of groups and associations including unions, and the Sun and Mercury sit in the 9th house of long distance travel (very apt for an international airline and legal issues. To break this strike, new laws and statutes may have to be imposed in Australia. 

Pluto makes a very focused quindecile to the Moon as well as sesquisquares to the Sun and Mercury, so here is a link between blockages (strikes) initiated by the workers before the transformation (Pluto) of the airline (Sun) can be achieved. Jupiter makes a quindecile to Uranus, so there is a nice link on the natal chart between technology and expansion, although this aspect can also be seen as growth only after rebellion. Finally, the North Node sits Scorpio in the 9th house. Doesn’t this just explain the whole situation right now. The North Node shows where the destiny of the company lies, however this is always a most difficult thing to achieve and will not be attained without going through and solving many problems. The destiny shown in the 9th shows that Qantas to progress successfully must transform (Scorpio) their own organisation through using international links (international outsourcing).

Looking at the transit chart, just look at the South Node. Transiting Jupiter, the focus for expansion sits bang on it. Here we have the conflict predicted in the natal chart, absolutely bang on time, opposing the transformation which the company needs to achieve. Remember the natal position of Jupiter, part of the mini grand trine and quindecile to Uranus. All those aspects are being played out now. Jupiter and the South Node are in fixed Taurus. Have you ever tried to move a bull when it doesn’t want to cooperate? They will dig their heels in like no other animal. So it is in Australia. The unions seem fixed in their opposition and this strike threatens to cost Qantas a small fortune, is hitting their public reputation (Jupiter’s sign Sagittarius rules the Qantas Midheaven for a midday chart) and plunge the company into crisis.

It is interesting that this situation has come about as Jupiter is passing this spot at the South Node for the second time in retrograde motion. Here is the idea of letting go of a relationship and gaining through it freedom. This suggests that both sides will have to let go of some of their strongly held positions to gain some benefit. Jupiter finally gets moving forward again on 26th December and finally connects with the South Node for the last hit on 20th February. If Qantas has to wait that long to solve the dispute, then they will surely go out of business.

So what do the other planets say? They are not clever. transiting Saturn is square to Moon/Mars so here is another strike signature, the planet of moving forward Mars hitting the planet of restriction in Saturn. Emotions are running high (Mars Moon) and the authoritarian decisions (Saturn). Transiting Mars is square to the Sun/Mercury conjunction so a vitriolic mood exists. Transiting Neptune is quindecile natal Neptune, there are dreams, confusion and deception clouding the issues. With so much astrological fog in the air, both sides will find it very difficult to find and accept the truth. The transiting Nodal Axis mirrors the natal axis being square to natal Jupiter and transiting Pluto is approaching an opposition to it’s own position. The opposition will continue to harden until it is connects exactly on 10th February next year. February next year seems to be the time when all this will finally be resolved, but what damage will be done to Qantas in the intervening months? Pluto has the potential to transform or ultimately to destroy. So what I do I think will eventually happen?

Well transiting Saturn will make a sextile to the Sun/Moon midpoint at 23:19 Sagittarius on 9th November. The Sun Moon midpoint I think in a company shows the meeting point between the bosses (Sun) and the workers (Moon). The sextile shows an opportunity to find some sort of solution, at least for the time being to break the strike and bring some progression to the issue. Ultimately though, I don’t think the reforms that Qantas want will be implemented until February next year, when all the planets I have referred to earlier have completed their transits.

**** Update 30th Oct 11****

Just after I posted this article, it was announced that an industrial tribunal “Fair Work Australia” had ordered the shutdown to cease and to get the aircraft flying again. Even if Qantas can get some sort of service running, the bad blood between the unions and the board is still going to continue. It remains to be seen if Qantas can find a solution which will be acceptable to all, something from the astrology I see that is someway from being finalised.

Thailand – Holding it’s breath as the floods approach.

Thailand has been beset by floodwaters, probably the worst of their recent history. This post was prompted by a question posed to me by one of my readers, thank you John. Bangkok now waits and hopes that the worst will pass, and so a city of 12 million people will escape personal and commercial disaster.

Thailand is a constitutional monarchy ruled by King Rama XI and his firm control as head of state is confirmed by a Scorpio ascendant. Pluto likes control of all things. The Thai Sun is in Sagittarius in the 11th house so this is a link that although the monarch is head of state, government is party lead and democratic in nature. Thailand is a Sagittarian nation representing the open and outgoing nature of the country in general and the Moon in Taurus in the 4th house shows the link to the countryside. Half the population still work on the land, Taurus is the most earthy sign of all 12 in the zodiac. The Moon is trine to Mars and Neptune and Uranus is trine to the Sun, so public protest and mob action against the rulers is something that will continuously affect the country.

Everyone knows the very liberal attitude yet dark sexuality in Thailand, and with Jupiter in the 8th house of sex and secrecy at the point of a mini grand trine sextile to Pluto and the Midheaven, no wonder the country is known for a very dubious underground scene. Looking at faith,Thailand is very much a Buddhist country and the gentleness and equality of the country’s beliefs, ones that pervade throughout the country are clearly seen through Venus in the 9th house of faith in fair minded Libra conjunct the ascendant. Venus here also may contribute to the women of Thailand being very popular as foreign brides. The 9th house represents an international link.

It is interesting that Saturn does sits in Pisces’ house, the 12th house associated with suffering and that there is a natal square between Uranus & Pluto, a square which is now again in operation until 2015. In this regard, I believe that the floods were very much signposted. Just look at the South Node on this chart. The South Node is a point of detriment, a point where things can go wrong. Closely conjunct to South Node is Mars and more pertinently Neptune. This conjunction makes a rather difficult inconjunct aspect to the Thai Aquarian ascendant and the conjunction sits in Virgo square to Mercury, Mercury’s Sign. Neptune is the god of the seas and of course rules water and rivers along with the sign Pisces. With Saturn sitting in the Pisces house (12th) Thailand unfortunately was always going to find problems at some point in it’s history with a water caused disaster.

Right now by transit, Saturn is making a very nasty opposition to natal Uranus and is square to natal Pluto, lighting up that destructive natal square between the two planets. This is pretty much as bad as you can get. The opposition to Uranus was exact in the first week of October when the flood risk began and the square to Pluto will be exact in the first week of November. As I write, we are near the peak of the floods, but not quite yet.

Looking at the Solar Arc charts, Solar Arc Jupiter is exactly square the nodal axis, to the minute. Jupiter here accentuates the size of the problem, remember the South Node is conjunct Neptune and Mars. This is and enormous build up (Jupiter) of forceful (Mars) water, sweeping through the whole country. Notice also that Solar Arc Neptune is quindecile to the Moon, another extremely focused link to the floods affecting the population, and Solar Arc Mercury is quindecile the triple combination. Travel and communications have been horrendously disrupted by this disaster. The boat, or what ever floats has become the only way to get about. Finally Solar Arc Saturn is square the Ascendant, a clear indication of hardship and problems affecting the whole country.

I hope for the Thai people that the flood barriers hold, as the destruction of Bangkok would not only be a disaster fro Thailand, but a devastating hit for the whole South East Asia region.

Eclipse Watch – An upcoming look at the next solar eclipse on 25th November 2011

I have always been fascinated by eclipses, maybe because I am closely associated with the Sun being a Sun sign Leo by birth. The Solaris name I use came to me on the day of a solar eclipse, and the effects of them and the ramifications of the totality point is something I study with great interest. The last eclipse of 1st July caused havoc for many across the world and as I have mentioned on this blog, the effects of that cardinal cross eclipse are still being felt.

I look at eclipses in a certain way. I look at the degree points of all the planets at the exact moment of the new Moon created, as if they burn a line on the horoscope chart. I believe that those points become highly sensitised, especially to transiting planets in the future. With regard to the last eclipse we still have one major hurdle to cross. As Pluto was retrograde at the time of the last eclipse, it has yet to get back to the point of 6 degrees 7 minutes where it was sitting on 1st July. It gets there just 2 days after the next eclipse of 25th November. Trust me, the end of November is going to be a very tricky time. Something big and noteworthy could well happen.

Ok let’s look at the astro weather for 25th November 11. We have a mutual eclipse this time around with the eclipse point at 2 degrees 36 in Sagittarius. This eclipse according to Bernadette Brady (the guru of astrological eclipse watchers) is part of the Saros Series 14N, one she says is quite unusual highlighting times of confusion in relationships, unexpected happenings in financial affairs and bring the possibility of possible illness. She says a lot of confusion will follow after this eclipse, potential despair, and peculiar events may happen.

The chart for the eclipse shows the New Moon in Sagittarius, so issues around Jupiter will be in focus. These are over expansion, wisdom, knowledge, education, religion, law and possibly long distance travel. The chart’s main feature is a grand earth trine which does feature Jupiter in Taurus. The other points of this trine include Mars and a conjunction of Venus and Pluto (Pluto is in earth in Capricorn and Venus is just in Sagittarius a mutual sign). The main theme of this chart I believe is money control, and changes in relationships. The Venus Pluto conjunction shows constriction of money and action (Mars) to cut the overexpansion and wastage (Jupiter). We already know that in the US as a result of the budget deal in August, a pan Democratic/Republican committee is to decide on cuts and where to swing the axe. In the UK we will have public sector strikes planned for 5 days after the eclipse against the cuts in pensions. Venus as well as finance rules relationships, and the influence of Pluto may affect them acutely, making and breaking. As Jupiter is highlighted, we may see international treaties or agreements coming about. Then again, potential treaties may be blocked because of the influence of Pluto. That Venus Pluto is square to Uranus, this Pluto Uranus square will keep on for another 3 years so expect the protests against the financial world and big business like in Wall Street to intensify yet more. One other possibility to consider. Underground religious sects may be formed around now, ones which in times to come may become more prevalent. Pluto conjunct Venus shows underground social movements, and the link to Mars and Jupiter show possible beginnings in faith based groups.

The eclipse point is square to Neptune and Mars. Is this a hint towards collective action? Neptune if anything is left wing, more socialist than capitalist. Is the world going to move towards more socially based policies on the back of this eclipse? Are the protests of mobs and collective groups going to force the hands of the leaders of the world? Uranus is also trine the eclipse point, so in the next 6 months while this eclipse is in action, I can see more change, progression and people continuing to taking things into their own hands, as in Libya. On a financial sense, there is another hint to change. We have a mini grand trine formed by a Neptune/Saturn trine with Venus at the point. I wonder if the capitalist system that we know now including banking is going to be tweaked with more emphasis on protecting the general population. With Mars, Jupiter (through a nasty inconjunct aspect), Uranus & Neptune directly connecting with this eclipse in Sagittarius, I get the feeling that we will see quite a few unusual, unexplained disasters and accidents, especially long distance travel based, maybe by ship or by plane.

Finally, I always look to see if any malefic planets are currently retrograde and will thus pass over the eclipse degree in the future. This often brings date to watch out for, times when unfortunate events may occur. Immediately we notice that Uranus is retrograde. Uranus will revisit it’s eclipse degree at Xmas 2011. This is relevant as after the last eclipse on 1st July, as Uranus hit it’s eclipse degree, the Norway tragedy happened. Something similar could happen, a shocking disaster that will reverberate around the world.

Ok, does this eclipse hit any countries directly. The effect of an eclipse on the US is always difficult to pinpoint, as we do not the official birth time of the country. I favour either a Sagittarius or Scorpio ascendant, in this case, the eclipse hits in either the 1st (Scorpio Ascendant) the overall prosperity of the nation or the 12th (Sagittarius Ascendant) in the house of hidden enemies, welfare state, institutions like hospitals and prisons and those in need and suffering.

In the UK, the eclipse hits in the 2nd house so money and financial issues will tend to suffer, no surprise there then. The eclipse is also almost exactly square to Pluto. The financial squeeze is really going to hurt. As a side issue to the UK, the eclipse hits the natal Scottish Sun (25th Nov 1034). Might the issue of independence really start to hit home at this time? Pluto will be opposite the UK Midheaven very soon and conjunct the Scottish natal Mars. I can see action being taken to force the issue.

In Russia, the eclipse hits in the 4th house, the house of the land and the workers. Natal Pluto is almost on the Russian North Node also in the 4th opposite to natal Pluto in the 10th house of those in charge. As I mentioned earlier, this eclipse may see the rise of the political left. Is this the rise of communism again in Russia, taking tighter control of the state? This is a regenerative influence, and the likelihood of Putin re-taking control of the Presidency which seems a dead certainty, may well herald a return to the bad old days of socialist leadership.

With Israel, the eclipse hits in the 2nd house like in the UK, so financial and issues of national wealth are going to be under pressure. Natal Saturn lands within 2 degrees of the Israeli ascendant and exactly square to the Midheaven so I see a change at the top, precipitated by protest. The Palestine chart finds the eclipse in the 3rd house of local issues, transport, the press, internet as well as neighbouring nations and it is trine to natal Mars which is being hit by transiting Uranus. That Uranus also squares to natal Saturn (exact) and is square to it’s own position. I get the feeling that relations between Israel and the Palestinians are going to get soured and violent, possibly as the hope of a Palestinian state is crushed by opposition of other nations, especially the US.

Greece has been in the news recently so how does the eclipse affect the Greeks? The eclipse hits in the 5th house of entertainment and pleasure. Sport is also found here as are children and social functions. Are these going to be curbed, limited and affected due to the continuing financial pressure? The eclipse is trine to the natal Sun and sextile to the Moon Pluto conjunction. it appears to me that  Greek society as a whole is going to remain rather depressed and constricted, for the time being at least.

The European Union may well benefit from this eclipse. The eclipse hits very close to the North Node in the 4th house. Here is a new energy to push forward and bring new initiatives. Mars squares the nodal axis and trines the European Midheaven, so action should be taken to make the union work better, Mars will be in the first house at the time giving the European leaders plenty of initiative. The only thing is, will Europe be able under the complicated structure that it is be able to grab these new chances to restructure and renew what is necessary to change?

Colonel Gaddafi – Captured and killed by the Libyan rebel forces

Reports out this afternoon say that Colonel Muammar Al-Gaddafi was captured by the Libyan Rebel forces in Gaddafi’s home town of Sirte, apparently after a gun battle. Like Saddam Hussein before him, the dictator was finally caught hiding like a coward underground in some drain tunnels, in a vain attempt to avoid his enemies. The unconfirmed video of Gaddafi lying dead in front of his captors has just been shown on the UK’s Sky News.

This report does not surprise me. Back in August on this blog, I predicted that the end of October would be the end of the line for Libya’s fallen dictator. I am pleased for the Libyan people, as now they will have closure and they can look to the future hopefully with some optimism. I trust that they can now go on to make their homeland a peaceful and successful country.

I am reposting what I wrote back in August explaining the timeline as I then saw it for the endgame for the battle for Libya and the continuing hunt for their leader.

It has been a long battle but as the rebel forces approach the outskirts of Libya’s capital city Tripoli, the end is surely nigh for Colonel Gaddafi’s rule of the country. A quick look at the current transits against the natal chart of Libya show the battle for the country is approaching the end game.

There are fierce battles going on right now as the rebel army approaches the Libyan capital and these are shown by transiting Mars which is conjunct to the natal Uranus. Mars is passing through the ruling 10th house of government and the nation’s public image, symbolising the bloody and chaotic nature of the advancement. The transiting Mars is also approaching a square with natal Saturn and its own position, so the battle in a few days will really start to be underway in the seat of government, Tripoli. I have tried to show the situation and movement of the planets month by month.

You can see the progression of events through Saturn. The natal Saturn/Mars Neptune conjunction in the natal Libyan chart fans out by aspect all the other planets. Saturn’s connection by transit here this time will herald the overthrow of the present regime. With transiting Saturn now conjunct to Saturn and square to Uranus and soon to move into a conjunction with natal Mars, this will be a violent and bloody end to the conflict. I would expect the end to be between mid and late September, because Libya’s Ascendant and Midheaven is ruled by Mercury. Natal Mercury lies at 18 degrees Sagittarius, and transiting Saturn will make a sextile with Mercury in the last week of September. This in turn will activate the natal Mercury Ascendant Midheaven t-square. Sextiles present opportunities and this will be an opportunity to complete the job started many months ago by the rebel forces. The transiting Sun and Mercury at this point make an opposition with Jupiter and square the natal Sun, which itself will be receiving a square again from retrograde Uranus.

Saturn then goes on to make contact with Neptune at the end of October. At this point, there will be a vey interesting mini grand trine as well as a wedge formation created. Transiting Mars conjunct Pluto and transiting Neptune opposite Pluto which is very brutal and grief stricken. Transiting Mercury also feeds into this Mars Pluto conjunction by way of a square, showing that this contact will affect the whole nation. The transiting North Node conjunct both natal Mercury (the chart ruler) and opposite the Midheaven and at the point is Saturn conjunct natal Neptune. Might this literally be the end of the dream for Gaddafi? Unless the Libyan leader has already got out of the country, then it will be nigh impossible for him to escape once the battle for Tripoli finally gets underway. The South Node conjunct to the Midheaven is a most unfortunate position, and the brutal Mars Pluto Neptune connection hitting the Saturn Neptune conjunction does say to me the end of the dream. If Gaddafi is caught, I suspect the rebels at this point will show no mercy to the dictator who ruled Libya for 40 years.

Looking at the transits, it is easy to see the downfall of Gaddafi. The transiting South Node was exactly on Gaddafi’s Sun and the transiting North node was making a quindecile to his Saturn. This double connection showed the end of his power and Gaddafi meeting his fate at the hands of those now in charge. Transiting Pluto was trine his natal Moon, so emotionally he would have been at breakpoint. Transiting Uranus was trine to natal Pluto and transiting Mars sextile his Sun so danger and unexpected shock were coming their way to him. Finally transiting Neptune was square to his Saturn/Uranus conjunction. Neptune dissolves and disintegrates and his revolutionary power over the past few months that this square has been in operation has been slipping away. Today, the revolutionaries finally caught up with him and served their retribution.

Amanda Knox – Tragedy, murder, sadness and joy. The astrology of “Foxy Knoxy” and her traumatic time in Italy.

I’ve been holding back a bit on doing this post, maybe just because there has been so much speculation around about Amanda and the case of the Meredith Kercher murder. This time I have been trying to do some detective work of my own in trying to ascertain whether Amanda actually did commit or helped to commit the crime. We now know that she was acquitted due to the uncertainty in the forensic evidence linking her to the event. By looking at Amanda’s birth chart and the approximate time when Meredith was killed (after reading up I came to the conclusion that 10pm was close to the time of death), I myself have come to a conclusion after noting a most remarkable set of astrological circumstances…

 

Amanda Knox was born on 9th July 1987 in Seattle, Washington at 02.47 am. Her Sun sits in the 2nd house of personal possessions and self worth in Cancer, along with Venus and Mercury, her Moon in enterprising Sagittarius and she has a Gemini Ascendant.  Cancerians are very family driven and security conscious, and Amanda’s energy will be used to protect herself and those she loves, however the Sagittarian Moon makes her need to expand her horizons and to have her opinions respected. Immediately on the Sun Moon combination, we have to question the motives of Amanda. We know with a Sagittarian Moon that going off to study in an foreign country, to expand one’s knowledge is a natural thing to do. The fact that it was language study is reflected by the Gemini Ascendant and it’s propensity to communicate.

But what of this Cancer Sun, with Venus and Mercury also in Cancer opposite Neptune. If anything this is a very gentle sentimental combination, idealistic, loving beauty, art, culture and music possibly. Yes Mercury opposite Neptune is liable to deceive, but there is no aggressive intent here. We do have the possibility of being over optimistic in love, a bit blinded by the whole idea, and with the Moon in the 7th house of partnerships in Sagittarius conjunct Uranus, we can safely say that Amanda would have been very keen to be in a relationship. Indeed unusual (Uranus) foreign (Sagittarius) men she would have found irresistible. There is a downside to this 7th house as Saturn is also found here. Saturn always shows fear and difficulty, and through her relationships, Amanda will have tough moments in her life. So it was to prove. That Saturn has a personal effect on her as it is opposite her Gemini Ascendant and makes an irritating and rather tricky inconjunct to her Sun. Any Saturn transit she will feel with almost double effect. In what area of her life would it particularly hit her? Capricorn, Saturn’s sign is on the 8th house of change and death and the 9th house of travel and higher education.

What else of the chart? Well we have we have a rather blunt and outspoken Mars in Leo in the  communicative third house square to both Pluto and Jupiter and opposite the Midheaven. Amanda does have a bit of an ego problem, an over confidence that could land her in hot water. Jupiter in Aries is very confident, possibly overly so. In the 12th house, that over confidence can lead to suffering. This is the house of institutions, including prisons. Mars Jupiter does tend to take risks and Mars Pluto is hugely determined and rather forceful. This aspect does indicate intensely passionate transformational relationships. This square is complemented by a Pluto Venus Mercury trine. More accent on relationships of a deep and dark nature. Also interestingly a link to communication of them through Mercury, through her memoires or serialisation. Me thinks she will make hay out of newspaper and book deals. Combined with a Mars Midheaven opposition we have a t-square which suggests that actions around the intense liaisons could be what she is publically known for and the actions around them, and with Pluto at the point of the t-square, the focus would be be very Plutonic in nature, accenting change, death, confinement, transformation. Finally Pluto is also at the point of a wedge, including that Venus Mercury trine and a sextile to Neptune. Neptune here brings uncertainty, a cloud of confusion in communication or in her case accusations, the dream of passionate union, of sexual bliss.

Put it all together. I see a girl who fascinated by foreign men and relationships who got herself into a difficult situation being near to or at the scene of a brutal murder. Her confidence, demeanour and rather outspoken manner (there are no air signs & so she overstates her responses to situations) rather upset the emotional Italian media and authorities, and on the word of the one person confirmed at the scene (Rudy Guede) that he was not alone, Amanda found herself accused and convicted of the murder of her friend and housemate, until the recent acquittal.

Now was the final outcome correct, and what do the transiting planets show? I studied all the information from the case and I estimated that any murder would have been committed between 9pm & 11pm, Knox was confirmed using her phone as late as 20.35 to her employer at a local bar, confirming that she was not needed to work that evening. I know that the timeframe was extended through until 4am the next day at court, however a later autopsy confirmed that Meredith could not have been murdered later than 10pm. I therefore take 10pm as a “probable time”.

Below we see a relationship chart between the proposed time of the murder (10pm) and Amanda Knox’s natal chart. Ok, a few things to pick out. The transiting Moon at 10.00pm was to the minute on Amanda’s nadir, opposite her Midheaven and square to her natal Pluto. Transiting Uranus is square to natal Saturn, and transiting Venus was square to Amanda’s Uranus Moon conjunction. If Amanda was to commit a violent act as the Italian police supposed, then surely transiting Mars or her own natal Mars would be making a conjunction or opposition aspect to say Uranus, Saturn or Pluto? There is nothing here to suggest that Amanda was doing such a thing. The only possible links on this transit chart to a woman being hurt were possibly the square between the Moon and Pluto showing the death (Pluto) of a woman (Moon) and the Saturn/Uranus square which could suggest a shocking event (Uranus) to a friend (Uranus in 11th) that had a difficult outcome (Saturn). The Venus/Moon Uranus square simply showed that Amanda had met an unusual man (Raffaele Sollecito) that week, indeed the 5th and 7th houses are being highlighted showing this was an love affair which was quickly turning into a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. So if Amanda showed no violence on her transit chart, how on earth did she get so involved in the incident? It was her destiny to do so…

To solve this riddle, I had to look much much deeper into Amanda’s chart, concentrating on the midpoints. Midpoints are exactly what they say on the tin, the middle point between two planets, the point where the energies of the planets on the natal chart are combined. Many eminent Astrologers have looked at midpoints, however the first one to concentrate on them fully was a German Astrologer, Reinhold Ebertin. His seminal work, “The Combination of Stellar Influences” written in 1940 is still a wonderful textbook on midpoints, probably still unsurpassed in the level of detail it contains.

There is one other aspect on Amanda’s chart that I have yet to expand on before I look at the midpoints. It is very difficult to spot, but sheds a lot of light on why things happened as they did. There is a natal Yod hiding away within Amanda’s chart. The Yod is known as the finger of God, a turning point in the life when the point of the Yod is activated. This Yod has at it’s base Amanda’s Ascendant sextile to her North Node, her destiny point, and at the point of the Yod is natal Pluto. Pluto at the point of a Yod is very transformational and powerful. All the plutonic energies are concentrated onto this spot, death, change, confinement, sex, big money, power, jealousy… you get the idea? Pluto is in Amanda’s 6th house, so her daily routine would be completely transformed when Pluto was lit up by aspect.

Moving onto the midpoints of the evening of the murder – have a look below. I have put the transiting midpoints on the inside and Amanda’s natal midpoints on the outside. Remarkably at 10.00pm the transiting Mars/Saturn midpoint was exactly conjunct the transiting Moon which was as I said square to Amanda’s Pluto, lighting up the natal Yod. Ebertin says the Mars/Saturn midpoint combined with Pluto shows brutality, the rage or fury of destruction, bodily injury or harm and this point is associated with death and murder. He goes on to say that this midpoint when combined with the Moon can show the death of a woman. Notice where they are, on the cusp of the 4th house, the house of Amanda’s home. This is where the murder took place.  Looking at other pertinent placings that night, we see the transiting South Node and Saturn, a nasty unfortunate combination making a virtual Yod between Amanda’s Midheaven and North Node hitting her own Venus/Pluto midpoint. Here is the inference of sexual deviancy (Venus/Pluto) by the authorities (Saturn) causing her problems (South Node). She may well under this influence have been very much infatuated at the time with her new boyfriend, and the Italian prosecutors used this as part of their case against her.

I move on. That night, we also find the Mars/Pluto midpoint sitting exactly on Amanda’s South Node. Ebertin notes that Mars/Pluto represents superhuman force and brutality, aggression and excessive effort. Is this Amanda showing brutality towards somebody? Look where the South Node actually is, it sits in the 5th house. Again, I personally see no aggressive intent here, maybe a very active, and rather wild love life at this time, but the midpoint is not connecting to any planet by conjunction or opposition. The more troubling things on the chart are the natal midpoints grouped around the South Node.

The South Node is a troubling point on anyone’s chart, it shows where you as a person gravitate back to in times of need, the behaviour you instinctively know. Some say that it shows where you have come from in your previous life. The South Node in the 5th shows that Amanda will contented when she is showing love to someone, in an affair, dealing with children, taking risks. These are her old inbuilt habits, things she has to grow out of, so that she can progress and achieve all her aims in this life, shown by the North Node.

The South Node is also a point of detriment in a chart, somewhere that can cause you trouble. Any planets or sensitive points connected to the South Node are elements that she will have to deal with, things over which you will have little or no control. Here at Amanda’s South Node we find Mars/Saturn, as explained earlier associated with death. The Sun/Moon midpoint sits here too, an unfortunate place showing that her life would at some point be associated with grave misfortune. We have Mercury/Neptune which shows confused communication, faulty judgement, confused ideas and perceptions, insecurity, fantasy and visions. Finally we find the Sun/Uranus midpoint here, showing obstinacy, having to deal with sudden setbacks in life, having upsetting experiences, accidents and sudden adjustments to new conditions, including according to Ebertin imprisonment. Just in this one South Node placement, we see the whole ramifications of the Meredith Kercher event mapped out, don’t we?

Looking at the progressions and Solar Arc charts, on 1st Nov 2007, Amanda’s progressed and Solar Arc Sun were one degree short (one year) from being exactly square to natal Pluto and that fateful Yod, showing her being confined in prison and her whole daily routine completely upset and transformed. We all know that the trial took one year, and during that time Amanda was locked away in an Italian jail, and she was not released until the transiting Sun had fully passed through the square with Pluto. The Sun rules her 4th house of home, showing an enforced change in her place of residence during that time. By the way, for those of a technical nature, I look generally at an orb of 2 to 2 and a half degrees on progressed planets.

I still haven’t fully answered the burning question. Do the planets say that she was involved? My conclusion is no, she wasn’t. The main reason is the fact that the Moon and Mars/Saturn conjunction operating that evening was SQUARE to Amanda’s natal Pluto. A square by it’s very nature shows an event that happens that you have to deal with, it is not an event or action that you do. There have to be outside forces involved and you deal with the consequences. Yes being opposite the Midheaven, she was thrust into the public eye, but there is not enough astrological evidence to pin the blame on her. The South Node backs this up fully. I think the South Node shows a picture of rather difficult events that will you will have to deal with in your life, your destiny to cope with. Maybe this is as a result of actions that you did in a previous life, and now you have debts to pay in this one? Amanda was caught up in the middle of this event by fate, she got embroiled in the whole messy situation. Fair play to her for standing her ground and fighting for her freedom. I am pleased for her that the truth came out in the end.

As a side note to the whole South Node issue, I looked at Meredith Kercher’s chart, and made a rather shocking discovery.

Clamped either side of her South Node at 7 Scorpio was Scorpio’s ruler Pluto and the planet which used to rule Scorpio before Pluto was discovered, Mars. This triple conjunction would have been conjunct Amanda’s natal Pluto at the point of her Yod connecting her into the whole situation, square to the transiting Moon and Mars/Saturn midpoint at 8 Leo. Unfortunately, what she had to deal with through that afflicted South Node was a savage and brutal killer (Mars/Pluto).

Hwang Woo Suk – Controversial cloning scientist claims to have cloned eight coyotes.

I love to look at people all over the world on this blog, and to keep my regular followers guessing to whom I am going to look at next. This time it is Korean scientist Hwang Woo Suk. Back in 2006 when Hwang was a national celebrity in his homeland, South Korea, he claimed falsely that he had perfected the cloning of human embryos. For his deception, he received a prison sentence, but the doctor having been released is now back in the news. This time he claims to have cloned eight coyotes, explaining that he had discovered a new cloning technique.

Mr Hwang was born on 29th Jan 1953. This is the official date according to the Gregorian calendar. There are some reports of him born on 15th Dec 52 but this date is the birth date under the Lunisolar Korean calendar, one which many Koreans still prefer to use. Thus Mr Hwang is a Sun Sign Aquarian, very apt for a scientist. Depending on his birth time, Mr Hwang has a Cancer Moon or if he was born just after midday a Leo one. Seeing as he seems to want to always be in the spotlight, I very much suspect he was born in the afternoon or evening.

Ok, looking at the chart, we have a close Sun Mercury conjunction in Aquarius. My Hwang will see life and will communicate very much his way rather than considering the views of others. This conjunction is square to Jupiter in Taurus. Notice the signs here. Aquarius is very much and independent scientific sign and Taurus is the sign of making things, of creation. Jupiter is also very expansive and optimistic. If you combine it with Mercury, you get the effect of over-exaggeration. That is exactly the charge that Mr Hwang was sent to prison for, over stating the claims he had for being the first in the world to create cloned human embryos. You can see on the chart a quindecile between Saturn and Jupiter. This aspect does encourage one to over estimate one’s worth to gain approval from others, here is the ambition to further one’s ambitions from ethics and moral positions in life. In truth, he can’t help trying to take advantage of his scientific knowledge (Jupiter square Sun in Aquarius) while ethically upsetting the majority of the world’s population. Sometimes in a battle between Jupiter and Saturn, Saturn wins out and authority did crack down very hard on him.

Saturn does sit next to Neptune in conjunction, which is very idealistic in it’s nature and can lead to a almost obsessive chase after an idea or vision, sometimes to such an extent that one can be ostracized or rejected by society as a whole. This conjunction is in social Libra, and the vision he has as we know is people based. This conjunction is trine to Pluto and potentially square to the Moon, so this dream would be an emotional quest, something he would do to gain social acceptance. Maybe it says a little about his relationship to his mother. Saturn square the Moon does suggest a troubled relationship with one’s mother. When one does lack love early in your development, then one later in life tries to get that love through one’s actions, in one’s work for example. The conjunction’s sextile to Pluto does hint at transformation as part of one’s work, transformation in the manipulation of the d.n.a. and cells in the creation of a cloned egg. This Pluto does also make a quindecile to the Sun/Mercury conjunction showing the link between the vision, ambition (Saturn/Neptune) and the science (Sun Mercury in Aquarius). This aspect also shows a focused push to be someone very special , someone who is known worldwide. That ambition he has definitely achieved.

Looking elsewhere on the chart, we have Uranus in Cancer which is not so restrained by traditional family ties and associations trine to Mars conjunct Venus and sextile to Jupiter. Again the sextile doubles the scientific and rebellious nature of his work, blindly going against the morals of general society. Venus Mars is generally rather “pushy” and Mr Hwang has not been a shrinking violet in his quest for scientific notoriety.

Right now, transiting Jupiter is square to his Sun echoing the natal square. This claim comes absolutely on time. Transiting Jupiter is approaching it’s natal position, so some good fortune should be shining on Mr Hwang over the next year. With Saturn coming to conjunct his it’s own position in the next year too, it may well be that this time the claims of his new technique in cloning may well be correct, and Saturn return will provide a boost to his credibility.

A tragedy happened yesterday as Dan Wheldon, the current Indy 500 champion was fatally injured during a 15 car pile up at the Las Vegas speedway oval during the last Indy Car event of the season. It appears that the drivers were nervous before the race, which saw 34 cars running at high speeds on a relatively small track. The risks certainly were high and unfortunately the incident on the 13th lap claimed the life of the universally popular British racing driver.

Dan was born on 22nd June 1978 in Olney, Buckinghamshire in the UK and was a contemporary of British F1 drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton. Dan was a Sun sign Cancerian with a workmanlike Capricorn Moon. I have no official birth time for Dan however I suspect that he was born early in the morning (see below). That would have given him a t-square formation in his chart based around a Moon Jupiter Mercury opposition. That Jupiter Moon opposition bestows an optimistic cheerful disposition, and that is what everyone said in memory of Dan. The t-square would have given him the tension needed in his life to go and do great things. Pluto is a powerful motivator, but often you need to break ties to achieve what you want. Dan of course left the UK for the United States and it was abroad where he found his greatest success. A 3am birth time would have given him a 9th house Capricorn Moon, indicative of someone who would work in a foreign land. It also brings Saturn, the planet of ambition into the 5th house of sport as well as Mars, the planet of speed in highly technical Virgo. To drive well at high speeds needs fast reactions, and with Mars in Virgo, Dan’s would have been lightening quick. Not fast enough sadly to avoid the crash that killed him.

Moving back to the rest of the chart we have a highly motivated Jupiter Mercury conjunction square to Pluto, which is in my view the biggest indicator of wealth creation in the zodiac. Jupiter square Pluto thinks big, acts big and achieves big. Uranus in Scorpio was trine to Mercury and Jupiter which is very tech savvy and bubbly. Like Dan’s Sun, all three planets are in security conscious Cancer. It is a crying shame and also deeply ironic that at the time of Dan’s passing, he was testing a new racing car design which was supposed to prevent the vehicle from flipping into the air when it hit somebody else from behind. I am sure as a Cancerian, Dan above anyone else in Indy Car would have had safety at the forefront of his mind, and I hope that the organisers of the series will beef up safety, both on the track and in the makeup of the cars to prevent such an accident happening again, one where the driver in the car is in desperate danger flying towards a concrete wall at 200 plus miles an hour.

So astrologically, what was the astro weather at the time of the accident? Well, the first thing I noticed was that transiting Uranus was conjunct Dan’s South Node and also square to his Sun. This is a very risky position. Any contact with a Node indicates a time when your fate is not entirely in your own hands and Uranus conjunct the South Node brings the idea of an accidental happening which will not tend to end up favourably. Transiting Uranus square to the Sun is always a time when one should be careful, little accidents are always on the cards.

 

We also have natal Mars being hit by 2 trines, one from transiting Jupiter and one from transiting Pluto. This shows high speed, very high speed. Had Dan had only the Jupiter connection, maybe he would have been lucky, and survived the crash, but Pluto here bring the risk of death. Using the 3am chart, Pluto would itself have been transiting the 8th house of change transformation and death, very much increasing the risk of something nasty happening and Jupiter would have been moving through the 12th house of suffering and sacrifice. We also have transiting Saturn square to the natal Moon, lighting up that troubling yet motivational t-square including Pluto and transiting Neptune opposite Saturn. Maybe the dream of winning $5 million by entering the race and being successful blinded him to the dangers of the day?

Finally, transiting Mars was trine to natal Neptune and this Neptune was also receiving a conjunction from the transiting  North Node. Was Dan being over optimistic that day? Taking too many risks? Neptune can bring you down to earth in a flash. From having you dreams right before you, you can end up ultimately with crushing disappointment. One’s judgement under this influence can be severely impaired. In the natal chart, Dan’s Sun was quindecile Neptune. He would have always been searching for the ideal. In a racing driver’s life that is the need for speed, the need for recognition, the need to dream and reach unimaginable heights, the need to win. Sometimes that tends to push you just over the edge. In a way, the Neptune North Node conjunction has been born out over the past few hours since Dan’s death. Here is the personality floating in the clouds, receiving a sense of appreciation, put on a pedestal, someone who as I just mentioned lived the dream itself, and the accolades he has received since the fateful crash have flooded in from all over the world. Dan was supremely talented, and during his short life touched the stars and experienced the successes that few racing drivers fully achieve. In worldwide motorsport, he will always stand out as a legendary figure, something he would have always wanted to be.

Mitt Romney - Christie endorsement a welcome boost to his chances to win the Republican nomination.

Mitt Romney is on a role, just as I thought he would be. He has just had a ringing endorsement from New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who many in Republican circles thought might make a late dash into the Republican race himself. The backing not only gives Romney a real boost ahead of an important New England debate, but will swell his financial coffers too with the financial backers behind Christie, now turning around to lend their support to the former Massachusetts Governor.


Astrologically, this comes right on cue. There are a couple of very supportive trines for Mr Romney. Firstly, transiting Uranus which rules Romney’s Midheaven is still nicely trine to natal Saturn and sextile to his ascendant. It will be here for a while yet, giving Romney solid progression to his ambitions. More crucially for now, Romney is receiving the opposite trine, transiting Saturn along with the Sun being trine to natal Uranus, doubling the effect and heralding the support he just received. This backing is a nice surprise for him, and with both Venus and Jupiter bringing luck, money and social support to this Midheaven (his professional persona) through a couple of invigorating squares (Jupiter also squares natal Venus in his 10th house), Mitt’s bandwagon is starting to really move apace. Jupiter is also making a nice sextile to Mitt’s Mars and Venus makes a trine to Mars too. These are all supportive aspects which are helping his campaign and his reputation, pushing him firmly ahead of the pack. Jupiter through Sagittarius rules personal relationships with others on the cusp of the 7th and investments and dealings with other people’s money on the cusp of the 8th, and through these beneficial Jupiter aspects with more to come as Jupiter is currently retrograde, you can see the cash starting to roll in. Even this early into the race without a primary yet to be decided, he will be on a considerable high, looks very much the clear favourite and in my opinion, is going to take a hell of a lot of stopping.
