The Royal Wedding – William and Kate tie the knot.

In what was a rather lovely and flawless ceremony, Prince William and Kate Middleton were married this morning at Westminster Abbey in London. They were declared man and wife at 11.21hrs. Looking at the wedding chart we have a full 10th house with naturally the royal Sun sitting in the house of duty and authority and Leo sitting on the Ascendant square to the Sun reflecting the pomp and ceremony and privilege they will have. The main feature of the chart is a heavyweight t-square based around a progressive forward thinking Aries Midheaven.  On the IC just in the 3rd house lies Saturn, giving a serious edge to the day and the union, they will think carefully about their union and also about any words and media and social commitments that they make, very much a legacy hanging over from William’s mother Diana who courted and as a result was pursued endlessly by the press. Saturn is opposite Mercury in the 10th house; this is a couple who will be very conscious of their image as future King and Queen. As Mercury is in Aries, this vision is progressive and fresh will push forward I believe a new informality to the Royal family while respecting the traditions of the past.

Alongside the Sun and Mercury is Mars and Jupiter. Here is a drive to touch as many people’s lives as possible and this is something the happy couple will do with gusto, not only in the UK but abroad too. As part of a great stellium of planets in Aries is Venus and Uranus in the 9th house. The Moon is also in the 9th house as well in mystical Pisces. Venus opposite Saturn conjunct the Midheaven shows a serious social event but also the colour and beauty of the day. Venus here instils a love of travel and William and Kate will travel extensively as a result. Uranus in the 9th is interesting. This is a break with traditions and belief and forging new directions. Uranus is trine to the Ascendant, so the public face of William and Kate will be as reformers.

The Moon in the 9th again highlights travel with a sympathetic nature, of exploring new cultures and peoples. The Moon is quindecile Saturn, so expect a lot of travel and and reserved shows of emotion, in public at least, this is going to be very much a working couple. Square to the Saturn/Mercury Venus Uranus conjunction is Pluto in the 6th house. Here Pluto is obsessed with work, health and daily routine. The royal couple will work to exhaustion in the cause of their Royal duties, and may in time be quite difficult to serve, being harsh with those beneath them. Pluto trines to the Sun reflecting the power of their new positions in life.

Finally we find Neptune, peregrine in the 8th house of change and inheritance. William and Kate will in time inherit the dream and the mystique and magic of the monarchy. Neptune will dominate the chart standing alone in Pisces. This is a very spiritual position and reflective of service. This is the overriding theme of the chart, service through the privileged position that they inherit.

Now the all important question, what does the future hold? Well by Solar Arc we have Saturn opposing the Midheaven in exactly one year which is quite sorrowful, maybe a loss in their extended family of some sort. However with Venus exactly three degrees from the Midheaven I can see a happy event in around three years time -  a baby perhaps?? The t-square will be activated by Pluto in 2015 when transiting Pluto squares the Midheaven in 2015. The marriage and their public face will be transformed in some way, possible moving up the line of succession?

The wedding chart in my eyes has all the hallmarks of a successful royal marriage with pomp and circumstance, duty and service, mystique and magic and the notion of an ideal with Mercury conjunct Venus at the Midheaven of how the Monarchy should look when they succeed to the throne.

Barack Obama – President gives surprise decision to publish birth details

President Obama’s birth certificate was published by the White House today to allay fears by some Republicans, in Particular Donald Trump that he was actually born outside the US. The situation astrologically was caused by Neptune in the past couple of months being square to Barack’s natal Midheaven. Neptune has been transiting through Barack’s first house of personal identity causing confusion (Neptune) about his public position (Midheaven). Obama shocked people with this act and looking at the chart, transiting Uranus is trine to his natal Mercury and his Midheaven bringing unexpected (Uranus) news (Mercury) about his right to do his job (Midheaven). By looking at extended house rulership, Uranus rules the chart and his projection to the world with Aquarius on his ascendant. Mercury rules both Gemini and Virgo which on the 5th and 8th house cusps. This was a carefully assessed risk (5th house) to expose his origins (1st house) in order to change other peoples views (8th house).

Sony Corporation feels the heat after PlayStation 3 is hacked

Just to prove that you can do horoscopes for virtually anything if you have a start date, I decided to look today at the Sony Corporation who are reeling after their flagship device the PlayStation 3 was hacked leaving 70 million people’s personal and bank details around the world at risk.

The Sony Corporation was formed on 6th May 1946 at 09.30 in Tokyo, Japan. As befits a company that makes things Sony has a Taurus Sun. Taurus is synonymous with music and sound and even the name of the company was based on the Latin word for sound “Sonus”. Of course the standout device which Sony was initially known for was the Walkman many years ago, paving the way for the digital mobile devices of today. Typically, the Sun is found in the administrative 10th house, Sony has grown to encompass music publishing, games machines, TVs and much, much more. Sony’s Ascendant is in protective Cancer and the Midheaven is in pioneering Aries. The Aries Midheaven shows a spirit to push back boundaries and to bring new and exciting products to the marketplace.

With Moon, Pluto and Mars in the first house, Sony is an aggressive, competitive company (Mars in 1st) which is very self reliant (Pluto) and determined to do it’s own thing (Moon in 1st). Do you remember the battle between JVC’s VHS video cassette system and Sony’s Betamax, Nintendo vs PlayStation, Sony’s Blu-ray vs Toshiba’s HD DVD? Pluto here also means that Sony will reinvent itself often, a factor that will keep it always relevant to the buying public. From transistor components and radios when Sony first started, Sony is now reliant on the games, computers, the TV and music markets. As time and technology moves on, so will Sony. One other thing, have you ever noticed that Sony’s products are always either silver (Moon in 1st or Cancer on the Ascendant) or black (Pluto in the 1st). The placements of the planets affect our colour choices too.

Looking at the rest of the chart, we see Venus and Uranus together, Sony has pushed forward the technology of colour (remember the Sony Bravia adverts) and technology (Uranus) for the public (Venus). We see trines to this conjunction from Neptune and Jupiter, Neptune in the 3rd represents communication products -  TV, music, radio & hi-fi. Quindecile to Neptune in Libra is Mercury in the 10th house in Aries – yet another intense link between creation of pictures and music (Neptune), ideas & communication (Mercury) for the general public (Libra). Jupiter sitting in the 4th house shows and international intentions, but from a large base at home in Japan. Despite being a worldwide company, Sony’s roots remain deeply entrenched in it’s home market of Japan befitting a Cancerian ascendant and Saturn in the 12th representing the administration of the company hidden away behind the scenes. The insular nature of Sony is also reflected by the fact that most the planets are found in the Eastern hemisphere of the chart so Sony will only reluctantly share it’s technology with others.

Right now, Sony’s Midheaven is under severe attack from transiting Saturn exactly conjunct to the IC (opposing the Midheaven) showing that Sony’s worldwide reputation is getting a severe hit. The news has come out now as transiting Mercury the planet of communication and news conjuncts that same Midheaven, (the media have got hold of the story). Transiting Venus and Uranus are opposite Neptune in the third house and transiting Pluto is square Neptune highlighting the potential theft and the compromising (Neptune) of Sony’s technology (Uranus), the hacking and security repercussions of the crisis (Pluto), the fact that this situation is worldwide (9th house) and the financial hit (Venus) that may affect the public (Venus) and Sony itself.

Belgium – The country without a leader for a year steadfastly soldiers on

Belgium, what do you actually know about Belgium? Not quite France, not quite Germany, not quite Holland but a sort of amalgam of all three. The European parliament is based in Brussels, a compromise sort of place with great beer, chocolates, frites and it’s not too far from London, Paris and Berlin. Belgium is now the holder of an unwanted record, the country which has existed for the longest amount of time without being able to elect a government, they have existed on… a sort of compromise. One look at the astrology, and you can see why all this has happened.

Belgium was formed on 4th October 1830 at 13.52 hrs in Brussels. With a Libran Sun, a Scorpio Midheaven and Capricorn Ascendant, you can see how Belgium was always going to be a legal and diplomatic centre (Libra), one of the first industrial countries (Scorpio), a financial centre (Sun in 8th house) and the seat of government (Capricorn) for the region. The Moon representing the people is in steady Taurus, the sign of the people making things; another signifying factor of Belgium having being manufacturing country in the heart of Europe. The Moon is also exactly at the IC on the cusp of the 3rd & 4th houses reflecting the split nature of the country and the people, opposite the Midheaven (the Head of State). Belgium is a constitutional monarchy with Saturn representing government in “royal” Leo, but the power lies with the people with the people and the federal government, one keeps the other in check. Taurus never rushes into a decision, it takes it’s time, certainly the Belgian people have not been hurrying this time around. The Sun opposes Pluto in pioneering Aries, and this opposition squares Jupiter & the Belgian ascendant. Belgium as a country had many colonies in Africa, the international exploration link shown by pioneering Jupiter; she exploited (Pluto) it’s colonies wealth (Jupiter/Pluto) for national (Sun) gain. The Sun/Pluto opposition does suggest that Belgium would go through several metamorphosis periods in it’s history, the first and second World Wars when Belgium was a battleground are direct examples. Belgium itself with Mars in non-combative Pisces has never been an aggressive nation. Mercury sits in balanced Libra in the 9th house, Belgium has two regions and two languages, French and Flemish and is a major transport and communication hub across Western Europe.

Looking astrologically at what has been happening to cause the government crisis, both the transit and the solar Arc charts show a clear picture. By transit, transiting Saturn has been hovering around and conjunct to the Belgian Sun for months now. Saturn always delays things and holds things up, allowing you to learn lessons before proceeding. The crisis was started after the government resigned in April 2010. Remember the Sun (leader) is opposite Pluto, so some type of reform in the way of government is needed before normal rule can proceed. Transiting Pluto is also bang on the Ascendant, reinforcing the need for a new direction and way of thinking for the country. Neptune opposes Saturn so there is confusion and a lack of decisive action. By Solar Arc the picture is strikingly the same. Pluto is approaching a exact conjunction with the Belgian natal Sun in the next 3-4 months. Again, Pluto means complete reform, old structures of governing will be smashed down before new ones are built. Solar Arc Ascendant again in 3-4 months time will square it’s natal position so it will soon be time to make decisions about the whole face of Belgium as a country – it will be interesting to see what new ideas they come up with, possibly more autonomy for the two main regions Flanders and Wallonia? We shall see in the near future.

Jose Mourinho – An astrological profile of the self-proclaimed “Special One”

On the eve of the biggest football game this season, Real Madrid versus Barcelona in the semi final of the Champion’s League, focus will quite rightly fall on the former Barcelona assistant coach Jose Mourinho, the current manager at Real who infuriates the Spanish media, yet is adored by the fans because he is a serial winner. He is a fascinating man, who at only 48 years of age, is already being hailed as one of the greatest coaches ever.

José Mário dos Santos Félix Mourinho was born on 26th January 1963 at 07.00am in Setubal in Portugal. He is a double Aquarius with both Sun and Moon in the sign and he has a serious Capricorn ascendant. Aquarians are cool, detached, stubborn, often very talented, rebellious and often have a star quality about them. With Jose, you can definitely seen in him all of those qualities. The Sun and Moon are in wide conjunction in the first house; he will be sympathetic to other people but not so much to his family, indeed he may regard his friends and associates just as much as his relatives. This is an assertive position for the Sun/Moon, he is his own man, will always be in charge, be first and be the boss. The moon here cannot be hidden, all his emotions will rise up to the surface but in Aquarius this is cool, controlled emotion, calculated as if he can turn it off and on at will, just to annoy everyone around him. This is a man who likes to taunt and to tease.

In between the Sun and the Moon is Saturn. Saturn makes Jose even more aloof and distrustful of those outside his circle, he takes himself very seriously and he projects a cold hard edge to the outside world. Conjunct to the Moon and Sun there is a caution about the way he works allied with ruthless authority. Jose’s word will be law. He gets this from his parents who I can imagine were very strict with young Jose; Saturn’s iron will coloured his formative years. Completing the first house picture is Mercury in organizational Capricorn conjunct to the ascendant. Mercury is peregrine (unconnected to any other planet by major aspect). Mercury in this position dominates the chart  and suggests a very high intellect and brilliant administrative, strategic and organisational skills; he will be uninterested in exaggeration and will focus plainly on the facts in any situation with an almost cynical zeal. Jose speaks 6 languages, will be disciplined and will always be learning; he will be a student of any endeavour he puts his mind to.

Looking at the rest of the chart patterns, one can see two oppositions one fixed and one mutable and off them are formed t-squares and wedge formations, two of each. These formations add colour to the seriously minded, individualistic first house. From the Saturn/Moon conjunction we find a t-square formed from an opposition to Mars in proud Leo with squares leading to Neptune at the point conjunct the Midheaven in Scorpio. Here is energy with an emotional bite (Moon), proud, arrogant (Leo), given with a calculated control (Saturn) which is shown on the public arena (Midheaven) for the whole world to see. Jose you see is a showman, able to create illusions (Neptune) to confuse (Neptune) any opposition to himself; he feels totally at home in-front of the TV cameras (ruled by Neptune), he plays to them.

Mars in Leo is a lover of competition and sport, Scorpio loves any physical endeavour which rules the Midheaven and in this chart Neptune, and as such Jose would have always been attracted to physical challenges. He shunned business school, favoured by his mother, to take a degree in sports science. Making a wedge formation to the Midheaven/Neptune is the mutable opposition of Jupiter in the second house opposing Pluto in it’s home house the 8th; the house of regeneration and change. Pluto in analytical Virgo shows a lover of detail of the highest degree, this is the position of the plotter, the schemer, someone who will ruthlessly dissect and exploit any weakness in an opponent. Jose will not be afraid of change, and will alter his approach to suit any occasion, so long as he believes it will help him to win. This is backed up with Uranus conjunct to Pluto in the 8th, here is revolutionary change, able to take over big organisations and businesses and reform them in his own image. Jupiter in the 2nd house opposite Pluto gives Jose an ability to teach in great detail,  a love of luxury, big international ambitions, a gambler’s instinct and a fair amount of luck. Jupiter/Neptune/Midheaven shows a colourful imagination, a love of the big stage and it encourages his to move on when he feels he is no longer accepted, Jose is always on the move from one club to the next.

Moving on to the mutable t-square, we find Venus at the point square out to the Pluto/Jupiter opposition in the 11th house. Venus here shows a social side, the need for friends and companionship, the need to be part of a team, to be loved by that team and as Jose has such a strong first house, to be in charge of that team; just as importantly to him, this team must be a winning team. Jupiter adds the teaching or coaching element to the mix and Pluto aids the tactical and ruthless edge. As I said before Jose needs his friends and associates probably more than his family and here is the key to his success. As Venus is in Sagittarius, he has an ability to bring disparate characters from all different cultures (very Sagittarian) together to bond as one efficient unit under his tutelage.

Jose’s current transit and Solar Arc charts remain remarkably upbeat wit a constructive trine between his natal Saturn and his natal Saturn which is progressive and a nice trine between transiting Jupiter and natal Venus and a square for transiting Jupiter and his ascendant. Solar Arc Mercury is conjunct natal Pluto so I can see that maybe some of his comments may upset some people and get him into hot water, but this is not new for Jose.These supporting elements suggest yet more success, if anyone can outwit Barcelona, then Jose can. With transiting Saturn just about to enter Jose’s 9th house his career is still on an upward curve and there seems no stopping him until about 2017/2018, when we may see Jose depart from management to start a new career, certainly this time will herald a complete change of direction in his life.

It is very rare that you find all the components needed to be a truly successful manager in the cut-throat world of international football, however Jose seems to have them all, an eye for details, a ruthless edge, a serious attitude to work, a tactical nous, unafraid of change, the love of being in the spotlight and the nerve of a poker player. That’s why he has the footballing world at his feet.
